We have to be naive to believe that the guy busted by the NBA for gambling/fixing games is the only one that did/does know the numbers!!

On a plane ride one year sitting behind Rick Majerus, two refs were talking about lines from the USA Today sports papers on NFL and College hoop games.

It doesn't wanna make ya say, hmmm, it's reality!!

I reffed a YMCA youth boys game and guys were betting on the sidelines on the two 8-10 yr old teams that were playing for petes sake!!

Didnt play the game, but I feel for those that had Iona. IMO, just a tough time of year with the lines being tight. Pretty much why I dont wager a lot of $ per game anymore. Just weird how it always seems that most of us are wrong side of this shit.

You know they do. I have friends that don't even bet and they still know the lines on games.

Not saying the refs did it on purpose, but they would have to be deaf, dumb and blind not to have an idea what the spread is for a given game - to not swallow the whistle in that spot was like a big FU to the gambling community. (At least to the chalk bettors)

I can't believe the absolute lunacy I am reading in this thread.

I would imagine that the most common complaint about officials would be inconsistency. But here, I'm reading that they should base their decision making on what the spread of the game is. Are you serious?!

I can see how the referee discussion went at half court in the Iona game in the closing seconds. "Hey Joe, what did you see?" "That depends, what was the spread again?"

Unbelievable. You're actually ASKING for that?!?!
