Iona -2 over Siena
After watching Iona blow away Niagara the other nite this team has improved so much from Dec.Niagara's inside game kept them in it but Darden has 4 pts with 2 minuts to go.They played great defense on him.Iona is so loaded with gds.Woffard,McCullough,Burtt,Solivar,etc.Inside they are somewhat weak but Fields did a nice job. Smith came back from his injury and scored and rebounded.They press,fast break,hit the 3,etc.
Other then the Fairfield loss at home Iona has beaten fellow MAAC teams,Niagara16,Marist 14,Loy-Md 12,and Canisius by 9.
Siena who is playing like a ride at 6-Flags is up and down.Now they are down.Lost 2 home games to Rider and Marist.Karawanga is in the doghouse.Was benched half the game.In fact was taken out the 1st 2 minuts of the Rider game.
All of a sudden this team can't stop anyone on defense.Marist was down 13 pts with 14 minuts left.And Siena let them back in only to lose 79-74.Siena does present a problem for the young Gaels inside the paint.Siena is the best rebounding team in the MAAC with a solid frontline of Haddix,Miller,Austin,Sniezk,etc
But Iona has quicker gds and the way they have been shooting you don't need rebounds when it s all "net".
Siena beat them by 10 at home.Today that will be reversed.Karawanga the past 2 games has shot 9-26.And he will have an array of gds hounding him today.
Fairfield -7 over Niagara
Niagara looked so tired after the Iona game.Darden was never in the game.Mendez is awesome.Stags are not beating up on anybody.Maybe they peaked already.They played so much better on the road.I think this game will be close.Niagara cannot shoot FT's.Their strength is there inside game.But so is fairfields with their front line of Deng,Maxwell,Garcia,Thompson.I think the Goode's and Todds pressure Cruz and Darden.Purple have no bench or depth.Stags play 8 or 9 players.
This is "wear and tear" down.And the Purple were dead Friday nite after Iona.
Loy-Md +11.5 over Marist
Foxes shouldn't be giving Poughkeepsie HS double digits.They are 4-7 at home and 1-5 in the MAAC.They beat Loy-md by 5 down in Md.Foxes have no interior players.Ellerbee and Eppehimer can stick 3's all day.Defense is suspect since they have no post defense.Everyone pounds the ball inside vs them.Of course the Greyhounds have no threat inside either.But Jordan is playing solid avg 14 with freshmen Bossman.Both fds Thomas and Allen are avg just under 10 pts.
Greyhounds are last in almost every catogory in conf.[offense,scoring margin,3 pt fg,rebounding,steals,assits,turnovers and of course overall defense.Marist is in the middle to lower in all those catogories.Of the 12 conf stats the geyhounds lead in rebounding margin over the foxes. So thus...I take them
Loy-md might be 4-15 and 1-9 in conf.Everyone might shoot better,play defense better,etc,etc,But the greyhounds do win with the cover.They are 4-1 as away dogs.So what they lost to Siena by 16,Iona 12, and Fairfield 12.So what they just lost to maryland the other day by 30.They cover.
I'll take the worst team in the MAAC.They are playing on MSG TV.Think they step up today and only lose by 8 or 9.
Also like Mizzou -3 over Texas Tech
Wake Forest +5 over Marquette
Oklahoma St +1.5 over Cinncy
