Iona -6.5 over North Texas ****** strong play
North Texas comes in today with a 3-0 record....all their games were played in Denton vs some bad teams...Ark Monticello-Nichols- and Del St...they struggled last week vs Del St hanging onto a 4 pt lead with under 2 minutes..they won 62-55...NT has the same problem every year...no one can pass the ball...Jones their top player last yr transferred.Williams a 6'6 swingman and is their top scorer and rebounder...he loves to shoot the 3 but ..wait a second...he thinks he can make the 3...he was 1-11 and 0-5 in his last 2 games...and at home in his own gym...NT is athletic with its front line but no scorers...they all run the floor nice but can't play man/man defense...they will have to play zone to win this year...they have so many new players..red shirts,transfers from big schools and jucos...maybe playing 3 cup cakes to start the season off is good to build some team chemistry...but they have no fundamentals....and that is because Benford the coach is terrible...everyone in Denton knows that and he was saved from being fired last yr by someone....he could be replaced by mid-season...and that doesn't happen in college hoops...
Iona is loaded and a favored to win the MAAC...these guys can score..English is a big time scorer and at 6'4 goes to the hoop or shoots..Williams in another 6'7 gd who can rebound and score..Laury at 6'9 250 is the best player in the MAAC...he can play pt gd and brings the ball up when teams press..talk about a handle with the ball...inside down low is tough...shoots near 55% FG...I haven't seen the other 6'4 gd in Amayo the transfer from Marshall but they say he is really good..they have 5'10 Cashmier at the pt...
Iona lost to Wake 85-81 and Woffard 86-73..they beat a tough Clev St by 6 last week..those were 3 tough teams..so Iona has already been tested....Iona has a lot of depth except inside..if Laury gets into foul trouble they could be hurting..Cluess has done a great job since he arrived at Iona...always a 20 game winner,going to the NCAA's,etc... except he his like his name is "Clueless" teaching defense...they always rank No 3 or 4 in the nation on offense,shooting 3's,etc and 315th on defense...already they gave up 81 and 86 pts in 3 games but that was still vs good comp....can't see NT stopping Laury inside and Iona can shoot the 3...if NT plays zone they are in trouble..if they switch to man they could be even in more trouble....either way Iona should win this by double digits and win big...

went in see "Intersteller" yesterday...didn't like it...to long and boring...acting was good but story line was so confusing..kinda like the North Texas offense and defense today.
