Weak schedule this year may be favorable.
Farentz needs to keep the hype out of the players heads. Any input out there?

I am a big Hawk fan and feel they are overrated right now-alot to prove in the lines.

Nice to find a hawk fan- This overratedness can become a mental problem for the players. Hopefully good coaching will help them forget this. I still think it will be quite a ride this season with there schedule. Been to FL 3 years in row to support the bowl games. Unbelievable following of fans. Hawkeye praise was on there front page of the FL paper all three years. The state was impressed with the loyalty.

The trenches do need some work i agree. They are dealing with some injuries already in fact. But if we think back, last year the offensive line was in serious disarray as well. 2nd to last in the nation in rushing- Tate is quite creative.

Iowa has had a great run. It would appear very difficult to compete on the same level as Ohio State and Michigan with all their resources and tradition. I like the underdog, so I will be pulling for you guys.

I grew up in Big 10 territory, so I was surprised by your lack of a running game. I also thought Iowa was getting a tradition of producing offensive linemen. I was reading about how your game with Iowa State should be real tough this year - any thoughts on the rivalry?

Rivalry games are always scary no matter the records.... For ia state it seems to be there game of the year that they play for- IA state has been a very difficult game on iowas schedule for the last few years- tough game and great for the fans- This year Ia state is supposed to be decent and i hope that does not spell trouble for the hawks- I think that the trip to FL every year is making me take there success for granted-

I agree, very difficult to replace the entire DL, especially one that included Babineaux and Roth. Especially difficult for Iowa because they have relied on the DL to bring pressure w/o help from the LB's.

:iagree: This is so true that it hurts. That defensive pressure has been the bread and butter the the Hawks. It is nice to know that you can rely on that defensive pressure to stop a final drive in a grueling big ten conference game/season- Good coaching will be essential to mold the future defensive players from no names to well known names. I hope that transition is a smooth one. Thanks for the post....
