It may be a down year for football, but I can always count on my alma mater to be in the top ten of the important college sport, competitive drinking. :toast:

IOWA CITY, Iowa ?An Iowa student arrested at Kinnick Stadium this weekend is getting nationwide attention.

Police said 22-year-old Samantha Goudie tried to get onto the field before the game Saturday, and they arrested her for public intoxication.

According to police, she registered a blood alcohol level of .341, more than four times the legal limit for driving.

She goes by the name Vodka-samm on Twitter, and has posted several tweets about the arrest, writing, among other things, "I'm going to get .341 tattooed on me because its so epic."

Now media outlets like the New York Post and the Daily Mail in the United Kingdom are proclaiming her "the world's drunkest college student."

Other Iowa students said the incident doesn't help Iowa's reputation as a party school.

An editorial in the Daily Iowan newspaper talks about the drinking culture in Iowa City, writing, "The unfortunate truth is that Vodka-samm isn't the problem, but merely a symptom."

The university has not commented.

Iowa City tailgating is preferably started on Friday night at Brothers Bar & Grill, leading into the all-nighter. Otherwise, around 6-7:00 am Saturday will work. Either way, a heavy breakfast is essential.

I worked a whole season as a cab driver in Iowa City. It is a madhouse. I could tell you stories that would have you  :scared

I also drove the big Cambus, which are full-size, 40-foot buses that go all over campus. One Saturday I made the mistake of driving a route that went right next the stadium. People were pounding on the bus like it was the glass in a playoff hockey game with the star opponent's face pressed against it. Never again. I went into the office right after the shift and dropped that route forever.

They are stories that have to be heard live. I'll probably make the Super Bowl or golf outing (can it be moved to Colorado this year so I can get baked) as I am coming back stateside at Thanksgiving. You come to one and I'll tell you.

How did I miss this thread until now?
Iowa has always been a huge party school but I just don't see how it could be more of one than its was in the mid 80s when I was an undergrad.
Drinking age was 19 then meaning virtually everyone was legal as a freshman and pot and other drugs were openly used in the dorms---now you would go to jail in a heartbeat if caught with weed or other drugs and most of the dorms have a no alcohol policy as the drinking age is 21 and most students have moved off campus before being old enough to drink.

Can't imagine some of the things we did ending up in cyberspace where anyone and everyone could see what you were doing....

Doesn't matter what they do. The underage kids have house parties now. Still plenty of people getting wasted in the dorms.

The first bar I ever got wasted in was the Union when I was still in high school. My buddy's friend was working the door and let me in. This was back when Hardees was still down on the Ped Mall. I stumble out of the Union and our hang heads over to Hardees. I open the door to the bathroom and it is a fucking piss party. There are dudes pissing in all the urinals, the stalls, the garbage can, and two degenerate bastards are even crossing swords in the sink. My 17 year-old eyes were like this:

Better herb now than the eighties. The openness would have been awesome though.

The gameday debauchery of a woman infamously known as Vodka Samm is the subject of a painting sold on eBay for $295 on Wednesday. The painting will be a part of a Halloween-themed display at Defunct Books, starting Monday, running through the first few weeks of October.

The painting, by Iowa City artist Heidi Atkins McEchron, has a top bid of $146.50. The item is listed as ?Infamous Iowa Hawkeyes .341 Girl ? Original Acrylic Painting on Cardboard." Its official title is ?An Intelligent Young Woman With a Bright Future,? according to the artist?s facebook page.

Samantha Lynne Goudie, 22, was arrested for public intoxication at Kinnick Stadium during the Hawkeyes? season opener on Aug. 31. Police reports state that officers stopped Goudie as she was trying to enter the playing field and a preliminary breath test showed her blood-alcohol level was .341.

After her arrest, Goudie, whose Twitter handle was @Vodka_Samm, gained national attention when she tweeted, ?Just went to jail #yolo? and later: ?My mom had to get me out of jail and had to take a breathalyzer #lmao,? and ?I?m going to get .341 tattooed on me because its so epic.?
