So, is it your position(s) - Wayne and Weasel - that our country is as well prepared to handle local emergencies with National Guard troops and machinery as before the war in Iraq? Simple question, would like to hear the answer(s).

Good Luck

And DTB Obama realized his mistake and corrected it right away.

Its a good thing that Bush has never mispoke or for that matter lied about anything.

I am not saying that dems are any better than republicans, in my opinion they are all crooks. However, you have to have your head buried pretty deep to not realize that this administration is the worse we have ever seen.

The true mystery is how some or even most have a problem with both parties when they pull there crap but these few guys will do nothing but blame the other side with the spin their puppet masters feed them daily.

If they take just one piece of machinery to Iraq with just one National guard to operate it we have less than if there was no war.

I believe when I was sworn in military the oath was to defend the country---somehow I missed the part about fighting fires--tornado/hurricane clean up ect ---and I somehow thought our federal tax dollars went to an org called FEMA to assist states in emergency situations--but then again that don't play well when your trying to blame a tornado and 10,000 deaths to a cheering crowd of liberals on GW--does it ?

---and whers all the headlines in the liberal media concern the gov and obama getting caught with their panties down around their ankles:shrug:

national guards mission

national guards mission

Our State Mission

The Army National Guard exists in all 50 states, three territories and the District of Columbia. The state, territory or district leadership are the Commanders in Chief for each Guard. Their Adjutants General are answerable to them for the training and readiness of the units. At the state level, the governors reserve the ability, under the Constitution of the United States, to call up members of the National Guard in time of domestic emergencies or need.

The Army National Guard's state mission is perhaps the most visible and well known. Nearly everyone has seen or heard of Guard units responding to battle fires or helping communities deal with floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, snowstorms or other emergency situations. In times of civil unrest, the citizens of a state can rest assured that the Guard will be ready to respond, if needed.

and the federal mission

and the federal mission

Our Federal Mission

During peacetime each state National Guard answers to the leadership in the 50 states, three territories and the District of Columbia. During national emergencies, however, the President reserves the right to mobilize the National Guard, putting them in federal duty status. While federalized, the units answer to the Combatant Commander of the theatre in which they are operating and, ultimately, to the President.

Even when not federalized, the Army National Guard has a federal obligation (or mission.) That mission is to maintain properly trained and equipped units, available for prompt mobilization for war, national emergency, or as otherwise needed.

The Army National Guard is a partner with the Active Army and the Army Reserves in fulfilling the country's military needs.

Well, at least you admitted we are less prepared at home to face emergencies because of the war in Iraq. Of course you post it in a dismissive, meaningless referential way, but the point is made.

I would assume that dodging IEDs in the desert in Iraq probably was left out of the recruiting pitch for the National Guard. Call me naive, but I would assume that someone who signs up for a couple weeks training a year, and one weekend per month, so they can make a little more money in life, probably does not think that will include multiple tours on the front lines of an elective war, facing insurgent and terrorist forces. Do they have to do it? Sure. Are the as well prepared and trained for that kind of duty as a full time member of the non-guard military? I don't know. I would assume not.

The simple fact is, no matter how much you dance around it, is that we are less prepared to both defend our homeland, and handle federal emergencies because of the war in Iraq. Can't blame the media for that one, no matter how hard you try. You want the war, and think it's important. So, own the thing, at least. Talk about a credibility issue...

Wayne, above all, I mean no disrepect to you or anyone else when speaking on military issues and experience. I'm merely discussing politics and world events here, and never mean to demean anyone and what they do (a couple people excepted...lol). I thank you, and other veterans and current military/guard for what you have done - and do - for this country and others. Hopefully my rants here don't give the impression I don't care about that kind of thing. Definitely not intended.

What is it about these women governors--Would someone please inform this lady that they have construction companies-contractors ect that make a living doing this sort of thing--but then again I am sure the liberal entities got together on Monday and got their talking points in order--even the NYT has doesn't deny it anymore--

Dogs im sure you realize the national guard can not be in two places at one time. Except for one national guard and that would be George Bush who was the only one in history to be in two places at one time. :mj07: :142smilie

Nobody uses 9/11 for political gain now do they dogs? Again your boy usess it for his failing policies and again we all stand and (well most) wonder what does 9/11 and Iraq have to do with one and or the other? I know what it stands for for the neocons. Its to shake up the weak minded like your boy weasel as well as yourself and i see it is really effective.
