On paper sure. Auburn was going against prolific offenses all season.
Not the likes of Cal (90), UCLA (100), Washington State (92), Washington (76), Oregon State (94), New Mexico (120)
And your 4-5 SEC bowl record argument is hilarious. What other 12 team conference sent 10 teams to bowl games?
And you want to talk about coaching?
Auburn has hands down, without argument, THE BEST offensive coordinator in football anywhere. Period.
The S.E.C is a awesome defensive conference but I don't think offensively they are all that prolific....I'm on my blackberry so its not possible for me to get the #'s
But I don't think its a whole lot better then what Oregon has went up against....
U mentioned that "Auburn had to run thru a Gauntlet"
AU had 4 road games this season @ miss st, Kentucky, mississippi, and They closed the season vs Bama
Which is in state.. Honestly that was a incredible game and great win by AU...
Oregon played @ Tennessee, Arizona St, washington state,
USC, CAL, and Oregon State (obviously in state)...
For the Bowl stuff,
Have u looked at some of the ooc games on the schedule for the S.E.C...A big giant plate full of Cupcakes...If u can win 3 games in conference play, your Bowl eligible ....Kentucky only needed to go 2-6 in S.E.C. To make a Bowl....Georgia (3-5 S.E.C) , Tennessee (3-5 S.E.C), all 3 of these teams finished the season with a losing record at 6-7 so it's not a impressing feat for me that 10 teams went bowling
Coaching point
Malzahn is a great coordinator
Although he's not better then HC C.Kelly who also has been the OC @ Oregon since 07 and has had the best offense in the PAC10 each of those seasons since joining the Conference
