Is it possible to tape HBO w/ a VCR?

I dont have either. I want to tape Real Sports for a friend of mine. One of my other friends has Tivo, but that doesn't really help my situation.
You should be able to do it but the box will have to be set on the channel and you won't be able to watch anything else at the same time.
Cable from wall --> Digital cable box --> VCR --> TV
Set cable box for channel 550. Set VCR for channel 3, TV on channel 3 (or 4, if that's your default). Set timer on VCR to record. TV can be on or off, doesn't matter.

VaNurse got it right. Just one thing to add. Make sure that when you connect the cable box to the VCR that the VCR is recieving sound along with the video. Normally when you set up the TV, the there is a cable coming from the cable box as well as sound cables. Both need to be connected into the VCR or else you will get picture but no sound. here is another diagram

I'm at Alexandria Health Dept. - Casey Clinic. It's located on the grounds of Inova Alexandria Hospital. BTW, what's Springfield Health Plex? I'm looking for something closer to home. Commuting 1-1/4 hrs (on a good day) each way sucks.

The Springfield Health plex is about a minute from Springfield Mall. Im only familure with one of the buildings. It has a bunch of specialties offices, family practice, ect. I think all the buildings are on Walker Lane if you wanted to Mapquest it.
