DTB you said it all if allowed to fight the dam war the right way. And we did own the air. And ground to a point. Had that been true at most times we would never had stayed 10 years. We did not lose. But we never were let to finish the job so 1975 did happen. And when it did we have the look of many dead for nothing. It leaves a bad tast in your mouth. Now look good at Iraq. We can stay as long as we want. Lose many men. And once we leave it ends up as it was. Maybe not first year. But by the second year just like 1975. It's sacrey how they look the same.

That wasn't the intent of the post Smurph.
Below are some assembled some facts most will find interesting. It isn't a long read,! but it will....I guarantee....teach you some things you did not know about the Vietnam War and those who served, fought, or died there.

how will those stats be interesting to me? all i really need to know about vietnam is the effect it had on my family , my life growing up, and how it will linger with my father for the rest of his life.

i don't care who was drafted, who volunteered, how many lost limbs, etc etc.

what's important is that is was not just. we were misled about the threat posed in the region. the dems and reps were equally at fault.

hell - the most honest guy was goldwater. maybe that's why nobody ever told us anything straight after vietnam about anything. you see what honesty gets you.

volunteers were lied to just like draftees. what difference does it make if the average age was 22 or 19? fighting was less intense thatn ww2? i never heard that myth. movies certainly didnt perpetuate that myth. but again - who cares? isn't that pretty irrelevent?
