The World Series is far from over, Sports. You can yawn all you want but don't get caught with your jaw hanging open.
What was Joe Buck saying during the broadcast last night. Lester had a bad first half of the '13 season; he went home during All Star break and slept for
four days which really turned him around. I think he went home and one of his old chums said, "Hey Les, try this bullfrog stuff." We will see how good he is next time out without the cheating.
You can see the World Series patch on his right sleeve.
Good pick up NP, didn't catch that.....If it's true he should be suspended, period....:0008
"The one thing that seemed very odd is that it shows up in a lime green color. I don't know how that can happen."
But Farrell was adamant: It was resin, and nothing else.
"Having been Jon Lester's pitching coach, he's got resin that he uses, and he happens to put it inside his glove," Farrell said. "Categorically, yeah, that's what he's using."
According to rule 8.02.4 in the Major League Baseball official rule book, "the pitcher shall not apply a foreign substance of any kind to the ball." A violation warrants an immediate ejection.
Since resin is widely accepted -- it is in the white bag that sits behind every pitcher's mound -- does that rule need an update?
"How it's updated, I don't know. Do you start to list individual products?" Farrell asked. "At the same time, I know talking to our own hitters, they want to be sure a pitcher has got complete grip of the baseball. In this series, there are pitchers on both sides that are going to be mid- to upper 90s-type velocity, and if a hitter in the batter's box is going to be more comfortable knowing that pitcher has a grip, maybe they're a little more at ease as well.
"So to adjust the rule, where does it end? I don't know. You've got to draw the line somewhere, and the way it is right now seems to fit."
THIS IS SUCH A CLEAR ADMISSION OF GUILT BY FARRELL.
No complaints from the Cardinals players or coaches.....Also said by both teams that it's common practice for pitcher to use pine tar or resin on cold nights to help with gripping the ball....Hitters from both teams said they would rather have pitchers have a grip on the ball on cold night than have a 94-99 mph heater on the loose.....No story here....
That's bullshit too...Matheny said it's in MLB's hands and for the CARDS to say anything would be making excuses...Lester said it was ONLY Resin and as for the green stuff it looked like a BOOGER. FUCKING BUSTED.
