It has ZERO to do with the man-made institution of marriage.

You may be right about procreation, but I will correct you on one thing

For the majority of folks, the institution of marriage was created by God and was referenced many times in the Bible.

It wasn't a man made invention.

isn't the goal of marriage to procreate? when two homosexuals can procreate then I will be in favor..

I was barren then hit menopause. Does your statement mean that I have no reason to be married?

I have friends who are in monogamous heterosexual relationships, i.e. marriage, who have had children who only bore the genetic imprint of one parent. These were people who wanted children and used another man's semen through artificial insemination in order to accomplish it. I also have lesbian friends who are in a monogamous relationship who have done the same thing.

The hetero couple has the protection of the law if one spouse decides to quit the relationship and wants the child(ren). The gay couple doesn't because of archaic laws and people such as yourself who feel the need to interfere in other peoples' lives because of their preference in the bedroom. Frankly, sex, while rewarding, is only a small part of a marriage.

I've seen many of the guys here at MJ's complain that there's no sex after marriage. While a joke, it has validity. In the day to day challenge of maintaining a marriage, particularly with children, sex is placed on the back burner for a time when both participants aren't too tired, too stressed or may be interrupted. I would assume it's the same for a gay couple.

Why is it such a big deal to those who can legally marry to prohibit those who can't?

Sorry for continuing this off-topic, so let me add this. If there are people who want to legally share their love, lives, investments, etc. with another, then there should be a union that allows for that. Honestly, I don't think I could handle another husband (or a wife, for that matter) but if my neighbor wants it, who am I to say "no"?? It's simply not my business.

If people want to live by that credo, some very odd & disturbing things would be considered created by God. That I HIGHLY doubt you, or many others, would accept.

I highly doubt most of the those folks that think like that have even read 1/3 of the Bible. Which is a shame it is a great Book.

But really since when is the Bible an accurate source in its current modern day form?

The BIBLE IS MAN MADE. Man determined which Books went in & which didnt make the cut.

A significant portion of the Bible is a political document, tucked away nicely among religious themes & stories, put together by politicians dressed up like priests & bishops back at the council of Nicea in 325 CE

LIFE was created by God, not marriage.

MARRIAGE IS A MAN MADE INSTITUTION.

Rather than talk about the bigamy aspect or animals, has anyone considered the prospect of brothers and sisters or first cousins getting married? Not because of love, but due to the financial advantages that go with it, like insurance. You get a couple middle aged siblings and one of them needs insurance, what's to stop them from having the right to be married?

Throughout history a ton of brilliant & successful people have married 1st & 2nd cousins & not all of this happened in ancient times.

Brothers & Sisters....No way.

Cousins....ahh whatever works or ya.

My opinion on this matter is that it is a constitutional issue. Every person equal before the law. If gays want to get married it is fine with me. I voted for Prop 8. Last time I checked, animals are not covered in the constitution so I am not worried about a man or woman joining up with dogs, horses, etc.

I for one can't wait for bigamy to be legalized. I mean having one husband was soooo much fun, I can't imagine how great two or three would be.

i pulled spytheweb`s ad from match.com:

"Looking for a second wife. The sister must be able to take a good punch to the face without sulking excessively, and realize that it is impossible for rape to take place inside marriage."...

you go girl!...
