Wasn't sure I liked her as choice at 1st--but glad he took her now whether they win or lose.

One thing they have aleady done is set the PC Media/culture warriors back 10 years.

Main stream america has revolted against the out right lies on media/liberal blogs--and the photo chopped pics presented as real--

Lets see Scott--how many you been duped into believng and caught at so far-- :)

Lets see there is the swimming suit--the pregnacy plot-the registered as independent-

You might want to persuse this link--to save further embarrassment-and they haven't added the pose with rifle to this yet--so you might want to be careful there to. :)

What a dope! Those are the pictures that are getting the right wing hard! :142smilie

Why don't you attack the issues?

I think it amounts to how some programs are run. Being a business owner, I think government policies need to be efficently run. Just throwing money at a problem like we have done for years at education doesn't seem to be working. Education is the key to many of our problems in this world. We have to do it, but not all programs are good. Not familiar with the specific legeslation she voted against, but the other side of the coin may be that there is a better way to get to the root of the problem. It is easy to say he or she voted this way or that way as you claim to prove a point they are trying to make, but very few in this forum take it to the next step to find out WHY they did this. Everyone wants to prove their own arguement before checking out all the facts.

That is very true. Also many times someone refuses to vote for something because of a line item that was added and that works on both sides of the aisle. But, I think that after a 62% cut, she can't be calling herself an advocate.

Anyway, I think there are enough questions to take a deeper look into her. Same goes for Obama too. McCain has been around forever and it is hard to say where he stands. He is called a Maverick because he claims he votes against the Republican base. Yet, the Conservatives are supporting him. So, in the case of a new face it is twice as important that we check her out.

Having a child with special needs and voting against something that is dear to her heart can also be looked at that she is doing what is best for the whole of the community, not just herself. That doesn't mean she isn't an advocate. Knowing the true needs of a situation may allow her to know better ways to address it, rather than those things she cut out of the budget. Any parent would advocate what is best for their child but being a public servant doesn't mean you can utilize your given powers for what is best for themselves. They have to put themselves and their own needs second to those they serve.

You sound like a resonable guy. How do you feel about her saying that she is a friend of kids with Special needs when she cut the funding for Special Needs by 62%. Now, you may or may not like the fact that she cut the funding but how do you feel about how she mis-represents herself as an advocate for Special Needs when she is Cutting funding?

...............................................................

Stevie - I dont really hold cutting stuff against

The first question I ask is how much was the budget for the special needs she cut 62% ?

If you dont answer that you are spinning wheels.

Goverment is just like running a business, as you have money in the budget to do things. As it goes along you need to cut some things down to get other things. Its political decisions mostly.

Dont get upset over that, get upset that McCain / Palin will lead us into another war sooner or later.
Or get upset when Palin lies about selling a plane on ebay , when thats a crock of hooey.

The thought of dropping bombs gets McCain and them excited. The warmongers.

Scott, as I understand it she cut about $6,000,000.

Pirate: She cut the funds before she had a Special Needs child. Not that she would have a need for help anyway. Not sure what you point was.

I read their stuff to and it is the same as this one, democrat blather. And the topic was Palin, the republican VP. I think any reasonable person or one that can think for themselves would be able to see both parties have good and bad points. To follow blindly either party is not saying much about that person. And why is it tearing apart the other guy all the time, how about just making positive points about Biden? Didn't see any of that in this Obama thread.

Her sister has a special need child which has been in the family for years now, before she was governer.

My point was any public official needs to be objective, not subjective when their family is involved, that all.

Bill O?Reilly?s Faux bravado

By Jay Bookman | Saturday, September 6, 2008, 11:55 AM

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

On this peaceful, pleasant Atlanta Saturday morning, my colleague Cynthia Tucker, syndicated columnist and the AJC?s editorial page editor, was returning from a trip to the grocery store when she was ?ambushed? on the sidewalk in front of her home by a three-person crew sent by Fox?s Bill O?Reilly.

Here?s a little background:

In a recent column, Tucker noted that Bill O?Reilly had skewered the parents of 16-year-old Jamie Lynn Spears after she became pregnant. ?The blame falls primarily on the parents of the girl, who obviously have little control over her,? O?Reilly said. Yet as Tucker noted in her column, O?Reilly seemed to have a different set of standards for the parents of Bristol Palin.

As Tucker stopped outside her house to pick up her mail, the Fox camera crew emerged out of a car parked across the street and advanced on her, yelling questions. At this point, I?ll turn the account over to Tucker for the blow-by-blow account, as she recalls it:

O?Reilly guy: ?Cynthia, in your column, were you comparing Bristol Palin to Jamie Lynn Spears??

Cynthia: ?In my column, I was criticizing Bill O?Reilly. And I stand by that.?

O?Reilly guy: ?Bill pointed out that Jamie Lynn Spears was running around unsupervised. You know that. So you were saying that Bristol Palin was running around unsupervised.?

Cynthia: ?If I said that, read that part. You?re holding the column (in your hand). Read where I said Bristol Palin was running around unsupervised.?

O?Reilly guy: ?You inferred (sic) it.?

Cynthia: ?I inferred O?Reilly is a hypocrite. And I stand by that. Good day, gentlemen. I?m going inside to finish my Saturday chores.?

(They ran behind me, shouting, ?Why weren?t you in Minneapolis? You went to the Democratic Convention. Why didn?t you go to the Republican Convention?? I didn?t look back ? just got in my car and drove into my driveway.)

For the record, the AJC sent reporters to both conventions. Tucker went to the Democratic Convention, while our more conservative colleague Jim Wooten went to the Republican Convention.

Now, ?Bluster Bill? O?Reilly likes to try to intimidate people. But in this case, he didn?t have the courage to do it in person. He probably didn?t want to bite off more than he could chew ? as Clint Eastwood once said, ?A man has to know his limitations,? and apparently O?Reilly knows his.

You can judge for yourself whose version of the column is correct, because it?s posted right here. I don?t think their ?ambush? went quite the way they envisioned it, and it?ll be interesting to see whether O?Reilly chooses to actually air that little bit of video in its entirety or whether he?ll back down and throw in the loofah.

Oops, I meant throw in the towel.

I just watched Sarah Palin on ABC. After several weeks of Rove's coaching, she's a perfect Republican, she never answered a question.

When she was asked if she could look America in the eye and say she's ready to be president,

she blinked six times, looked DOWN and said

Well I am ready to be a hockey mom with lipstick on

Palin adviser warned that firing raised 'grave
Wevley Shea is a former U.S. attorney and fellow Republican

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) -- A former ethics adviser to Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin warned in July that firing her public safety commissioner would become a "grave concern" for her administration.

Gov. Sarah Palin is fighting allegations she improperly tried to force the firing of her then brother-in-law.

Wevley Shea, a former U.S. attorney and fellow Republican, urged Palin to apologize to former Commissioner Walt Monegan and fire anyone on her staff who discussed her former brother-in-law, state Trooper Mike Wooten, with the commissioner.

"Your 'political advisers' have given you poor counsel; the situation is now grave," Shea wrote in a July 24 letter to the governor. "I recommend the following action 'now' to restore your credibility and Alaska's bright future with you."

Palin, now the Republican nominee for vice president, is battling allegations that she and her advisers pressured Monegan to fire Wooten. Palin has said she fired Monegan over budget issues and denies any wrongdoing, calling Wooten a "rogue trooper" who threatened her family during his divorce from the governor's sister.

The governor has not publicly answered questions since Republican presidential nominee John McCain picked her as his running mate August 29, and her representatives did not immediately return phone calls seeking comment Thursday.

Shea had acted as an informal ethics adviser to Palin, but he told CNN that his advice on the Monegan firing was unsolicited.

"If they would have done what I said, I think it would have been over," he said.

Palin trooper probe moved up three weeks
He also recommended that Palin and her husband apologize "for any overreaching or perceived overreaching" regarding Wooten, who was involved in a child custody dispute with the governor's sister.

"Trooper Wooten was/is a grave public safety threat to your family. It was/is a very personal, emotional matter, which was either mishandled or covered up by certain individuals," Shea wrote. But, he added, "I am extremely concerned about certain 'wolves' if my recommended action is not taken immediately."

The state Legislature launched an investigation into Monegan's dismissal in July. In August, Palin disclosed that members of her staff had called state police officials nearly two dozen times to discuss Wooten and pledged to cooperate with the inquiry.

But since she became McCain's running mate, her representatives have attacked the investigation as a "political circus" and argued that it should be conducted by the state Personnel Board.

Lawmakers have scheduled a Friday meeting on whether to subpoena a list of top advisers in their investigation, and the state Personnel Board was to meet Thursday afternoon to discuss Palin's request for a separate probe.

The Legislature's inquiry is scheduled to be completed by October 10. But the state attorney general's office is now warning that the administration is likely to challenge any subpoenas in court.

"Bluntly and to the point, we think there is a legitimate concern that this investigation is no longer being conducted in a fair manner -- and therefore is potentially violative of Alaska's constitutional due process safeguards," Senior Assistant Attorney General Mike Barnhill wrote in a letter Tuesday to the bipartisan committee that launched the investigation.

State Sen. Hollis French, the Anchorage Democrat managing the investigation, did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

French has drawn fire from Palin's supporters for suggesting that the investigation could yield an "October surprise" for the Republican ticket and that officials in her administration may have violated state law by obtaining confidential information from Wooten's personnel files.

"The eyes of the nation have now turned upon us," Barnhill wrote. "If this investigation is to continue, the governor, the people of Alaska and the people of this country deserve a process that is entirely consistent with the foundational principle of due process."

Complaints about Wooten from Palin and her family have been under scrutiny since the governor's July firing of Monegan. Monegan has said that no one directly demanded Wooten's firing but that his refusal to sack the trooper led to his dismissal.

Palin placed one aide, Frank Bailey, on leave after disclosing a tape-recorded call in which Bailey discussed Wooten's case with a state trooper lieutenant.

Shea blamed the controversy on "yes people" in Palin's administration he said were "doing what they think makes them look better in the governor's eyes."

"The political can never get involved, ever, in criminal investigations, or law enforcement investigations, even if they aren't necessarily defined as criminal or criminal prosecution," he said. "Law enforcement has to be totally independent, and when staffers of the governor take it upon themselves to attempt to influence law enforcement investigations, it just can't be done."

Wooten and Palin's sister, Molly McCann, began divorce proceedings in 2005 after four years of marriage. Palin, then a private citizen, and other members of her family filed several complaints about Wooten with the state police, accusing him of threatening his in-laws and other improper conduct.

Wooten was suspended for five days in March 2006 after state police commanders determined that he had used a Taser on his 10-year-old stepson "in a training capacity;" drove his patrol car while drinking beer and illegally shot a moose using his wife's hunting permit.

As early as October 2005, more than a year before Palin became governor, a judge hearing the divorce case warned her relatives against trying to get Wooten fired, according to court records.

Superior Court Judge John Suddock said the family appeared to be putting Wooten's job at risk at a time when he would be required to pay child support and warned them "not to slay the goose that lays the golden egg."

"It appears for the world that Ms. McCann and her family have decided to take after the guy's livelihood, that whatever who did what to whom has overridden good judgment," Suddock said.

And in his final divorce decree the following January, Suddock warned against the "disparagement" of Wooten by his ex-wife's family and said it could lead him to transfer custody of their children if it continued.

"It is the mother's responsibility to set boundaries for her relatives and ensure they respect them, and disparagement by either parent or their surrogates is emotional child abuse," he wrote.

McCain Speechwriter Trying To Write Lines That Don't Lead To Creepy Smile
September 2, 2008 | Issue 44?36

PHOENIX, AZ?According to campaign sources, Joseph Chappel, a 38-year-old speechwriter for Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), has spent the last two weeks attempting to combine words and phrases in such a way as to not provoke a tight-jawed, dead-eyed smile from the presidential hopeful. Dreading a repeat of last month's speech to a group of businesswomen in Ohio, during which McCain followed a mention of his wife with an awkward and eerie smirk, Chappel has avoided personal anecdotes for the new speech, omitted any mention of "God" or "this great nation," and cut several phrases that had the potential to draw the 72-year-old candidate's mouth open in a horrifying display of teeth and gums.

"I've managed to make two out of every three sentences a question, but I'm not sure that will help," Chappel said shortly after deleting an introductory paragraph in which McCain welcomes the crowd. "Jesus, that [smile] makes me feel cold inside."

Chappel told reporters that if he is not able to write an appropriate, smile-free speech in time for the Republican National Convention, he will resign his position and return to his previous job, taking photographs of abused children for police reports.
....................................................

Let me see if I can find a picture of the creepy smile. I have seen him do it 3 or 4 times.
