IMO Yanks had better pitching, more hr power(documented) than St. Louis...............also Yanks had Home Field over BoSox which St Louis does not............so if Boston handled NY'S hitters power should'nd they be able to contain Cards hitters????

Lets also not forget Anaheim had some sluggers (Glaus,Vlad etc) and BoSox contained them.......

If the cards dont go crazy hitting I just dont see them beating Boston..........

Interested in others thoughts...........

Mav there's no way I can go against Boston after what I just saw. Un-fawking real. And now with with home field adv. I'm betting the farm on Boston. The curse is over.

I predict the St. Louis pitchers will get shelled while on the road at Boston and I think If Bos can shut down hitters 2-3-4 like they did this week then they'll cruise.

Obviously they need to stay clear of Pujols and Edmonds and take it from there.

Love Bosty

I agree St. Louis is to be respected.........but everyone is talking about the sticks of the Cards.
So I do some stat checking and I see the Yanks have outhomered the Cards 242 to 214!!!!
Now St. Louis had a much better ERA than New York but...........I think Ny had a lot better 2 lead starters in Mussina and Lieber than the cards do and remember the Cards should have a lower ERA because of pitchers having to hit.......Thats at least 4 bats in a game.........

St.Louis has only won 1 of 5 on the road this postseason.........

Not sure hitting is all about home runs. Walker (when right), Pujols, Rolen and Edmonds are about as tough as any 4 hitters you'll find. If Renteria and Sanders continue the cards will give the sox all they can handle.

Ok....true........but are the above 6 any better than
Jeter
Arod
Sheffield
Matsui
Posada.......???????

I agree St Louis is a tough lineup........I am just wondering if there lineup is any better than the Yanks threw at the Sox.

Don't forget that St Louis doesn't have the dh all year. Not sure how many home runs yankee dh's hit but 28 is not far fetched. Home run wise teams are about even. Probably little better speed on the cardinals team overall. Could be able to take advantage of wakefield's knuckle and run on it.

cards be more inclined to play some small ball too ... this will be great series, cards starting pitching is my question ... last 7 cards ws went 7; last 4 red sox (this is all from memory) went 7 ... so big trend breaker if this doesnt go 7 for both sides ... and lets not forget, Yanks coulda swept these same amazing red sox and not one person woulda been surprised after the 19-8 pommeling--so how to cap this, who the hell knows

Yes they are. Better pitching. Much better pitching. And Albert Pujols is more explosive than any Yankee hitter. Are you listening A-Rod? :)

Cards are a gift at +145 for the series.

How can they have better pitching?????????

I will agree they may have better middle relief but no one on the Cards is even close to Mussina and Leiber was lights out at Yankee stadium.......El Duque was pretty decent........and how do you even come close to compairing Rivera to Izzy????????

I am not saying they cant be compaired but to say the Cards have better pitching than the Yanks had is a stretch IMO............

Mussina/Lieber vs Williams/Morris even imo

El Duque/Brown/Vasquez vs Suppan/Marquis/Carpenter adv. Cards

Middle relief adv Cards

Rivera vs Izzy even.

I'm basing this on how they pitched in October, not April

Dodgers and Twins? comparable lineups
Red sox and Astros w/ Beltran? comparable lineups

I WISH the Cards were playing the Yanks in this series. StL would have scored 10 at least twice

Yankees line up also had a boat load of switch hitters Milliams Posada Sierra etc.

BUT ST.LOUIS is a far supeirior fielding team to The Yanks. Yankee outfield arms were brutal. And Sheffield had a big mouth that hurt his team.

Fla...........I respect your baseball knowledge.......and we can agree to disagree with respecting each other.........but to say
Rivera vs. Izzy is even ........I dont even know how you figure that???

Mussina is one of the top 10 pitchers in the whole league.......

Basing this on how they pitcher in october is not accurate..........when facing the Dodgers and the Astros in the playoffs and playing 7 out of 11 games at home your pitchers are probably going to look pretty good..........especially against the Dodgers........their lineup was kind of laughable .....

Oh well........should be a great series and good luck..........

Well............even I am surprised at how much this cards pitching staff sucks...........at this rate the Sox will never even have to worry about Izzy.........even the innings that Boston doesnt score they are still putting men on base and threatening......

From what I have seen so far I think the Yankees definitely had the harder pitchers to crack.............of course there is a lot of baseball to be played and this series like any other baseball series can turn quick..........

I got the Red Sox for series laying 280 for 200. They look like they are on a mission now..but we gotta wait til Kate Smith sings.

Gosh after playing The Yankees it looks like nothing phases The Sox. If Red Sox snatch a win in St. Louis, they will be in great shape.

The way The Red Sox look you wouldn't think they know they are in The World Series.

Honestly even with The Yankees pitching problems , i think they would beat The Cards too !
