For those who follow line movement, not the ones who think it has no effect what do you think this means. I loved it when the line was moving the "wrong way" earlier in the week.. e.g. Public betting Pitt and line getting better for them. now it seems the heavy money on pitt is actually affecting the line. i would think the oddsmakers would just leave the line as is if they thought rutgers would win the game and then as usual they would clean up when the public decided to back pitt. However, due to the line change i am now unsure about that. anyone who follows line movement closely feel free to chime in. If you think movement has no effect on a game please dont type that into the thread as it has no bareing on this question

This line opened as a pick. I key on the movement from the original line. Many times it will move quickly and then settle back down. This line in vegas has only moved to Pitt-1. Offshores are moving it to 1.5 and starting to see a few 2s. Offshores, in my opinion, are always more apt to move lines based on cash flows and to entice bettors to another side since they are not as well capitalized as the vegas books. I do think a lot of money is coming in on Pitt and the fact that vegas is holding strong at -1 looks good for Rutgers.

This is my two cents and I am sure many will disagree. After browsing many boards today, I am on Rutgers anyway. Way too many people touting Pitt as a strong play.

GL!

Bason,
i hope you are right. That being said as of today according to vegas insider...

9/30 Caesars- Rutgers -1 at 00:00 now Pitt -1.5

9/28 Stardust- Rutgers -1 now on 9/30 pitt -1

basically similar trends at every book acccording to insider. That being said It looks like i will stick it out with rutgers. This is a top play for me so i guess im getting a little nervous when i do not expect the line to go this way no matter how much pitt money comes in.

The line never moves the right or the wrong way. The line moving will not affect the outcome on the field. The heavy money on PItt DID not move the line earlier in the wk and is not moving it now.THe line makers moved the line to do what they did to you. Make you unsure about what ever it is you thought you knew. Just because Rutgers was the FAV, does not mean the house thought they would win. FAV's lose all the time. My guess is that the house thinks Rutgers is the right side and they know most of the money bet between now and game time will back the FAV. The public was already on PITT, you can't change that. All this line move does is scare week Rutgers money & reinforce public perception that PITT is the right side. I love Rutgers more now. NOTE : we saw it this wk, on back to back nights. One night they moved the line up and the next night they moved it down and the FAV covered both nights.
