That hammer is intended to save your life and the lives of others. Give up the tobacco and feel better and live a longer life.

Good Luck

Well, indoor bars haven't seen my business since July 1 of last year. It's all commies like the guy just above me , everywhere. You, know, let me tell you what's good for you. Im good, I'm a leftist. ;) and I'll control your life from here on now.

Gimme a break, no smoking in a BAR? It's PC gone mad. :moon:

Hey, here's my take. I'm not a smoker, I smoke a handful of cigarettes a month maybe, when I'm drinking with friends and I'll have one maybe a night, that's all. The smoking in bars is a grey area, I actually heard it's killing bar business. I guess they could have 2 types of bars, but I mean, the one thing I hate is people smoking next to me when i'm eating, was in texas and you can smoke in bars there. That's what gets to me, and when the smoke blows in my face. hey, if you wanna smoke I have no problem with it, but I mean is it too big of a deal to have a smoke outside? granted it's not as convinient but whatever, I don't know, there are more people that don't smoke than do smoke, so I guess that's why they have it, and for the health of others, but It's a sticky issue, can't please everyone. I wish the bars fawkin didnt have such early closing times in some places (Texas they turned the lights on at 1am and said that's it) and wish you can buy alcohol on sundays, but thats another issue

I'm not one to tell people what they should or should not do. However, I get sick and tired of going into a bar and seeing a nasty haze throughout because they are not well ventilated. If the bar owners would have put filters in, this might not have happened. I personally would still go into a bar whether it is smoking or not, but it will be refreshing not to go home stinking of cigarettes, and with congestion for the next day.

The problem I think is that smokers in general are inconsiderate, and don't typically care about non-smokers. They just say"quit whining, it's just smoke". I can't tell you how many times I will walk down the street and a smoker will be smoking and blow the smoke near me or in my face. I don't care if it is inadvertant or not, but you should be considerate of others around you. Also, when you are eating in a restaurant or bar, and a guy lights up next to you while you are eating. Makes me wanna kick ass seabass. :thefinger

yea its all that second hand smoke thats killing everyone. something that never has been proven no matter what some of you shallow minded people want to believe. but hey believe what you want, the gov even retracted their original conclusions on second hand smoke years ago but of course that never made the front page of any papers. why stop a good thing when someone can profit from it. now as far as smoking bothering someone of course it will and the bars should have proper ventilation for all patrons.

It is quite simplistic, We non -smokers do not want to go home reeking of smoke, I do not pour my VO whiskey on you do I, NO , so just as you do not want to roll down the Hwy or into your home reeking of old stanky whiskey nor do I want to reek of an old Ash tray!

It's curious to me why the conservatives in this thread support government interference and want to abandon the free market in this case.

There's plenty of non-smoking restaurants that you can go to (maybe not in Wisconsin), so shouldn't we let the consumer's wallets decide.

Unfortunatly that's your problem. Tobacco like most drugs, illegal or not...can be a tough addiction to quit. Unless you have no friends or family....you are only being selfish by cutting your life short. Remember....don't let stupid tobacco beat you in the game of life.

Good luck.

Oh....and one more thing....you smokers litter. Where do you think all those cigaratte butts go. You should be fined for every butt you drop. I am sure all the fish and animals that ingest these nasty butts appreciate it.

PLEASE STAY AT HOME AMD SMOKE ( HOPEFULLY YOU HAVE NO FAMILY AROUND TO INHALE ALL THAT CANCER) AND THROW YOUR BUTTS IN THE TRASH

Thank You

Lets say you buy a bar. Who is the government to tell you what you can do with that bar IE smoking. You own it, if people are so against the smoking they wont frequent it and you will be shut down. But now we need to have the government telling them what to do in there business?

Cmon, thats fawking crock of shit!! I am not a smoker myself, but I do believe business owners have the right to choose what makes sense for them business wise and not have the government telling them what they can and cant do!

No one is forcing people to go hang out in bars where people smoke! If you dont like it dont go there!

I saw on the news that in some places in Dallas county where smoking in bars have been banned, business has increased something like 8%, which is a very impressive number. I am a smoker myself, but don't mind not smoking in restaurants and bars where it would bother others. It's even worse seeing parents taking their kids out to eat and sitting in the smoking sections of these places. It's called self control, though it's EXTREMELY tough not to light one up once I've had a few drinks. And as far as the government (aka : Hypocritical Bastards) taking over and deciding what the local bar owner should do with their businesses, well, that's another discussion that belongs in another thread.

So believing that 2nd hand smoke kills people makes me "shallow-minded"? LMFAO. Have you read 1 ounce of research on the topic? If you are going to spout government conspiracies and crap like that in light of the direct evidence of 2nd hand smoke you are the ignorant one. I'm sorry, but with my medical background and professional education, I'm going to have to assume the years of education and research I've been taught and read was just one big conspiracy. Give me a break.

Oh yeah, and if you would like, I'll be happy to post some actual research on it. That is if you know how to read research papers, evaluate p-values to determine validity, etc. Which, in light of your post, I seriously doubt.
