Agree that anything can happen, but disagree on this one Jack. This was a Harbaugh move. The coaches got caught up in the moment. The smart situational play was to kick it high and inside the 20. Yes, a run back is possible, but extremely unlikely. Plus, even a good run back kills the clock so they would likely just go out of bounds. New coaches love to play the numbers and the smart move was to kick it high and deep and todays kickers can do that.
Now, having said all that, the Bills defense was simply horrendous. My one take away from this weekend is that teams better start drafting safeties because they all could use one or two more. Funny thing is that most people used to joke that the older prevent defenses were bad and prevented teams from winning, but some halfway decent prevent defenses would have made a lot of difference this past weekend.
I do think the OT rules should be changed for the playoffs. Simple change, if you get the ball and score a TD you must go for 2 and then kick it off to the other team who gets a chance. Also only one FG attempt per team allowed in OT. This should ensure the games do not go on forever. Or something like this, but I am sure the NFL will screw it up.
