it's YOUR forum, so what should "I" do?

i'm getting tired of being the 'prick' ...... in the eyes of these guys anyway.

the touts come in droves, especially this time of the year.

they're trying to sell you something and the unsuspecting could get hurt.

some are honest but most are crooks.

- should i let them post their site link?
- should i let them get all this free exposure when i worked for 6 years to get the traffic where it is now? why should they get a free ride?
- should i charge them for the privilege of posting their link? how much? that would weed out the real scammers because anybody that is any good at all shouldn't have a problem paying to advertise.
- should i keep editing their link out and banning the repeat offenders?
- should i require them to be monitored at bestbettor and only post the link to their stats at that site instead of their website? should i require they post the link to their stats at bestbettor?

i'm just thinking out loud and looking for feedback.

i'll probably keep things the way they are because i don't want to mess with a successful formula but i am always open to new ideas.

MJ you have the place for them already. The free pick site. Have anyone that has a service place any of there free picks in that site. Keep all service off the reguler forums. Other sites Ii see do things like this. That way there is no mistake for anyone who is at that site. I know you and Nolan do not have services and are in the free pick section. Maybe for the 3 or 4 that are there that are none service good have just a little differant site. Or leave that one alone. Start a site for those who wish to give some free plays that are services and call it that. This would also free up some space in your other forums. But everyone that comes to your site should have the chance to know who is who. Just my humble thoughts.

You keep on monitoring your site, and weeding them out as they come.

Guys will always be around sniffing for a free buck, and others will be willing to pay them.

MJ I think some don't understand there here already. Some we know and some we don't. I don't see any reason they need to be in our reguler forums with any type advertising or free picks. Put them in a diverant place. And for free picks only no advertising. Allow only advertising if you are going to get some good dollars for it. Your in business here and if you can make some dollars you should. But I just think the right way is seprate forum not in the reguler forums.

Maybe you can give the tout's their own section where they can post their links and BS. Not allowing that BS out of that section. Also, I do think you deserve to compensated for it, by maybe a monthly fee or something of the sort. As I wise Korean grocer once told me "this is America, nothing free here."

That's an easy one from where I sit. I'm sure there are not many easy ones from where you sit.

If the touts populate some separate forum or they have bestbettor links in a way that isn't likely to change this cool as hell place (and they make it worth your while), I wish you the best, but I'm sure you can appreciate the numerous risks that would be involved.

Jack--I personally like the look of bestbettor. I don't use touts, don't look at touts, and surely wouldn't purchase tout packages--BUT if they are willing to submit at their page on bestbettor for a very small fee, then so be it. Some people look for touts and I assume there are good touts out there.

I also would not let them post a website until they have a minimum number of games listed on bestbettor. This will increase your traffic on the site (always a good thing) as well as make sure they are posting legitimate records.

Just an idea.

A seperate page will not help. These guys know that you won't check out a tout page. Everyone comes here, because it is free.

They will comtinue to post in the free forums, because that is where we read peopes shit.

I remember a clown last year in hoops:

"My sources at the Miami Harold tell me they know some info on the Heat........"

"My source at the Chicago Sun Times........."

Do not feel like a "prick" for keeping this place clean. You do a great job with it. Keep them out period, no ifs ands or buts. If they want traffic they can buy an ad from you, with a disclaimer than you neither endorse nor condone any picks they may dish out.

But please, keep the place tout free! Maybe some tout will think you are a prick, but all of US (and we greatly outnumber THEM) will appreciate it, even if we don't always say it. Don't let this place become the Prescr....ooops, I almost said a dirty word.

I might be in the minority with dawgball, but like your idea using your BestBettor Site for touts.This site is by far the best on the net bar none and I like many many others have been and probably still do post sometimes at the others. But I always end up spending almost all my time here because of the posters and you Jack, because of the way this place is run.

IMO you would do no harm by letting touts post here as long as they have a link to bestbettor for their stats and had to post them there or would be eliminated.

Give them there own forum so as not too clutter up the current ones. Then posters could chose to go in the "tout" forum or not and if they did they still would be assured of knowing who is who by their stats at Bestbettor. It would show who the honest ones are and the scammers would soon be exposed.

I think this would benefit the site, posters and most of all you for all your hard work.

1. For posters it opens up more avenues of info on games which I think everyone would want. Some guys use services and this would be good for them and those that detest them DO NOT have to even go in that forum.

2. Create more traffic to this site and especially Bestbettor translating into more revenue for you. Bestbettor is a great looking site and should really catch on even more if you have touts posting REAL RESULTS for guys to see and follow. You could even run some contests their like Hilton or The Ultimate Challenge if you would want. Its about generating traffic and revenue and at the same time policing a rather shady area of the gambling business.

3. Charge these touts for the privledge of doing this, maybe not a large amount, but something to make it worth your while and they will be getting a form of advertising all depending on how well they do. How long do you think the scammers will stay when their record goes bad.

I think you could benefit from this idea and so could all your posters.

Some you folks draw a fine line with words touts and services. When you say keep them out. I hope many of you know your talking about some of our friends. When you say No. Then you are talking about some folks like Raymond, Fletcher, Hoops, Sneaks.KC Wolf to mention a few. Now they have services or do you call them touts? You can't have it both ways. So that is why I say give them a place/forum of there own to place there free picks dailey. Or do you folks understand when you say NO that means these guys to. Or do you want MJ to try and pick and choose and have all kinds of problems. As I see It MJ's questions is All or None. I say at least for our Friends give them a free pick site. Maybe they should have had one to start with. If other service wish to place there free picks there. They must clear it with MJ first. Advertising is a diferant subject.
