Seems like every day somewhere in the forums people are saying "Well get my email from Jack so we can talk or find out about this or that." So you email Jack, wait for the response, Jack has to make sure the other person has OKd the release of their email, then you finally can send the acutal email. With the buddy list function of this message board program you can easily send Private Messages to people on your buddy list and it works great, there are a lot of other sites that use that function (non sports sites) and in my opinion it is great and saves a lot of time.

Just wondering why since the need is obviously there we go through the extra hoops to get in touch with people when the PM function is there and already set up.

because every tout under the sun will abuse the feature and send endless amounts of spam to all the members. much more hassle than the ways things work now.

In my experience - Jack is on top of these type requests and I am more comfortable with him managing it the way he does now - unless it gets to be too much of a hassle for him...

just my two cents..

Jack is dead on with this one - as much as it can be a great feature - it is also a tool for spammers to get their word out. I post a lot at a non-sports board that used to have PM's activated, and everyday I'd get a bunch of ads/spam. Got so bad they had to deactivate.
