jacksonville st +6-: i believe the early line jump unjustified and based on market perception. fact is, these are two fairly equal (jsu #96 osu #110), well balanced teams. both have had good results against relatively soft schedules. the one glaring difference between the two is that the gamecocks have game from the arc, shooting 40.9% (26th) and defending @ 29.6% (39th). comparatively, beavers shoot 28.1% (334th) and allow 36.6% (228th). against their best opponents in corvallis this season, osu lost by 9 to #101 wyoming, beat #207 loyola marymount by 4. in only two road games, jsu lost by 3 at #57 miss st, by 5 at #132 buffalo.

gamecock coach ray harper is another great coach you've probably never of. he came to jacksonville last year, inheriting a team that was 8-23 the year before and proceeded to produce the school's 2nd ever 20 win season, 1st ever ovc title and first ever ncaa div i tournament appearance. he's a legend at ky wesleyan college, where a slightly younger loophole briefly played freshman basketball in 1969, and harper won 2 div ii national championships. with leadership like that, i think the gamecocks will keep their mess together in corvallis. i also put a half unit on the moneyline.

Giga is hurting for JSU and may not play... He is part of that defense

I am seeing mixed stories on Giga... so take with a grain of salt.

thanks to all.

Muscat, saw that about giga, probably part of the reason for the early line move. jax st has a pretty deep and experienced bench, hopefully they'll be ok.

Hope you scorched those nets at Ky Wesleyan Loop, 1969 was the same year I was 'trying' to play football at UTM. Hope we get this one! Had heard of Ky Wesleyan plenty but didn't know they were in Owensboro, probably within 100 or so miles from where I grew up in way Western Ky. :toast:

Loop... I am a fan of this JSU team; I think they really battle for the OVC title. I am not sure how the game goes tonight as I dont follow Oregon State yet... I know OSU is running almost all their offense through Tinkle and I think JSU rim defense will do well. The JSU height is going to give fits to everyone. I could see them win this one SU tonight.

thanks guys. if anyone listened to the second half of the game it was a real barnburner. i dont think either team had more than a 3 pt lead in the last 15 minutes of the game. i lost count of the lead changes. here's a recap of the end of the game that will tell you how close i came to cashing the moneyline bet too:

Oregon State led by one point with 17.8 seconds left and the Gamecocks inbounding the ball. But after a kicked ball, a deflection out of bounds, then a blocked shot off the court, Jacksonville State inbounded the ball with 1.5 seconds left on the baseline. Seven-footer Norbertas Giga missed a last-second shot for the Gamecocks.
