"the bunker"
i`m not defending it

i`m not defending it

i don`t know enough about james baker and the "carlisle group".......i do know that if we were all honest,we`d agree most of what we do in the middle east is about the oil....and of course,to a lesser extent our ally israel...

and regarding the oil, that`s fine with me....i like driving when i want to...i like staying warm in winter.....

yeah,i like having these things....

it`s fine with me if it`s about the oil....without it,our society collapses.....

for some reason there are some people:rolleyes: that say "it`s all about the oil" and act as though "the oil" isn`t a necessity.....

it is....and please,i know we get much of our oil from other sources than the middle east.....the middle east still remains the hub of the world`s oil production...unfortunately,it`s a somewhat unstable region...

would i like us to be more independent of the oil producing countries?...of course..

do i think "big oil" blocks all efforts at finding an alternative energy source?....of course....

do i think numerous politicians....democrat AND republican....are in the pockets of big oil?....of course...

what do we do?.......we`ve found that the two party`s block any effort at establishing a viable 3rd party.....

yeah...it`s all about the oil....what`s the alternative?

Education, solar, wind, reusable energy sources, negotiation, trade, less consumption, saving, turning off a light switch when leaving a room, honesty, tolerance, sharing the planet. You know, the things educated and civilized people do.

Not, bullying, taking, lying, consumption oriented marketing, gas guzzling suv's, ugly americans, wasting, protectionism, leaving a light on when you leave the room. You know, the things barbarians and uneducated people do.

Garden Weasel that was Beautiful. You know what? I agree. Getting Iraq is huge. It was just all the lies to the stupid ditto heads who still believe this is a war on terror. If they were to come out and say from the beginning that we are going to take over Iraq to stabilize the middle east and have a place to establish our troops and take their oil, I wouldn't have liked it but after 9/11 I would have drank the coolaid.

Yep, It's ALL about the oil, the oil that keeps your ass warm, the oil that gets your ass to work, the oil that has an affect on every aspect of your life! So what's your POINT! Go live in a cave and STOP using the OIL you are so troubled about...

if those were viable alternatives, why aren`t they being utilized to their fullest...if they were economically viable, why not?.....

i don`t think those options are a realistic alternative....maybe as an adjunct to oil....but not as a total alternative...

but if they were, what would stop us from availing ourselves of these resources?....

our politicians,of course...

as far as iraq is concerned,i have no answer.....if i did,i`d be "the savior".....

i have no idea how we can extract ourselves, save face and leave a viable free government in place....

i have no idea...

i don`t know if the administration "lied"....the clinton administration had basically the same intelligence that bush had.....

why didn`t saddam come clean?....if he had nothing?

i really think it`s way to early to put the "wmd " question to bed...

still, the occupation and transition was obviously not throughly thought out.....an amazing blunder,i have to say...

GW:

I like you. You are one of the few right leaning, if not fully right, wing guys on this board with a brain. Are those viable alternatives, you ask. I think so.

The problem with why they are not being implemented is because oil provides the easiest and most expedious resolution. Education, conservation, etc. are harder, more time-consuming and do not provide immediate gratification.

As we all know, energy sources must be provided within 4 years or they are not viable. That is, no administration will commit political suicide for the sake of the future. This government is not set up for long range resolution of problems. Its quick fix or your out.

Thats why we need a Lincoln. No, Pro190, not the car but, the president. Someone who can think outside the 4 year box. Alas, I don't see anyone like that on the political horizon (other than maybe McCain).

Isn't anyone alarmed that Jim Baker's lawfirm is defending the Saudi royals?

The Same Jim Baker who is affiliated with Daddy Bush and the Carlysle group, who are making millions in Iraq?

The same Jim Baker who made sure W held on to the election?

Hmm 18 Saudi's on those planes and Our presidents father and his old chum are more concerned with The Saudis.

Again we already know it's the oil. Even though your president won't admit it. I want to know why this crook Baker is defending the Saudis.

What are you looking for, TS? You debate like you're on the playground looking for a fight. If you want an intelligent discussion, you should probably introduce things differently.

Anyone using terms such as Slick Willy or Daddy Bush are obviously not out for a discussion. They are blame tactics that are not productive. I try not to participate in discussions with people on this level.

probably because the Saudi government is cooperative with us....we generally do not go to war with regimes that are cooperating

if a regime is not cooperating, and long drawn out diplomacy is not working, then war may be an option....

hope this irons some basic foreign policy things out for you...

i love how you can turn speculation into facts as well....

Again you did not answer the question. James Bakers firm is defending the Saudi Royals in a 300 Billion dollar suit against the survivors of the 911 victims. He is also a member of the Catlisle group who the Saudis have invested in. What is the Bush administrations stance on this?

why should a government be held responsible financially for its citizens' actions????

should you as a taxpayer be held responsible financially if Iraq could sue our government for abusing its soldiers????
