On the course!
I hate when people give the middle finger like that.

Looks like Dolly Parton hiding behind a tree.

Was playing golf yesterday with one of our regulars who just got back from vacation New Orleans and he was VERY impressed with conditions there.

--also raved about a crawfish omelette he ate every day. :)

Conditions on the strip? I'm sure they are fine. The waters? Not so much.

Always glad to hear a nice report on NOLA. So far so good in terms of seafood. Right now is white shrimp season, and they are delicious:00hour

Some marsh is damaged, but nowhere near the level of damage expected. Also, regrowth has already been spotted in some of the more heavily impacted areas.

WEll I guess the fed gov did a good job after all.
But when you look at 5 years after Katrina. What a mess.

Did BP not do most of the clean up/capping. What did the Gov. do? I would imagine if a private company poured billions into fixing N.O. in a very short time that it would look much different as well. Guess I dont get the comparison:shrug: Obviously BP caused the problem but if the spill would have been left to the gov. to clean/fix it would have been the same fumble fuck as N.O.

The first sentence is funny if you're joking. If not, forget I mentioned it:SIB

Not sure what the 2nd sentence means, but would like to know. Please elaborate if you find the time.

Katrina was 5 years ago. N O has long way to go in rebulding. Had such a slow start to recovery. Hell Mississippi behind to.
As for gov role in oil leak. Three things helped. The pressure put on BP to move faster . The 20 bill they were forced to put in reserve. And the smart move of putting our cost guard leader in charge.

No offense to you that live in New Orleans but..........it is a shithole. It was before Katrina and it is after.

Nice place to visit for a couple of days but no way I would live there.

So BP needed the gov. pushing it in order to have enough motivation to clean up and cap. That is pretty laughable but even if that were the case what comparison is there to be made between the oil spill and NO.

I don't think the gov't had any effect on the solution to the spill. BP, in typical bureaucracy, was stifled in red tape. They can't make a decision there.

This well should not have been open more than a week. BP's bureacratic culture caused it to last longer.

They were told by many advisors, as soon as the accident happened, to get the LMRP off the BOP and latch another BOP on top of it. They didn't listen.

They went through all the gyrations and guess what finally solved the problem?

I understand. I have a good friend that had 18' of water in her house, lost everything and moved back. Either you like to live there or you don't. Doesn't seem to be much in between.

I love Louisiana, spent a lot of my childhood visiting family there. It is a great part of our country. Sure parts of New Orleans aren't too attractive, but every city has the same issues.
Shame on our country for not stepping up more. If all the people who went there in the past to party their brains out showed some love, it would help considerably.
