The operator KDDI will launch the broadband service to 1 Gbps within the next month of October, using fiber-optic infrastructure.
KDDI Corp, will offer this service communications based on fiber optic connections with speeds up and down of 1 gigabyte per second for both synchronously.
The figure represents an increase of surprising speed, considering that the average speed currently offered by operators that there is 100 megabits per second, at a price of 1155 yen (approximately 9 euros, $12.00 US dollars).
KDDI will charge for the new 1 Gbps service a monthly fee of 5985 yen, which implies the change about 46 euros ($63.00 US dollars).
The operator KDDI currently has a market share of optical fiber 70 percent in Japan, offering broadband services in the residential market. The availability of these speeds will initially be deployed in six provinces of the Kanto region and Yamanashi, near Tokyo, as well as in four cities in northern Hokkaido.
Cablevision in NY just announced the fastest internet speed in the US @ 101 Mbps for $99.95. Japan offers 100 Mbps for $12.00 dollars.
