YEAH, right.....!!!:thefinger :thefinger

for a guy that was 4 - 18 on last year's campaign, i would love to get ONE MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR!!!

and BTW: i'm referring to my fave pitcher of all time:

TORONTO -- The Toronto Blue Jays signed free agent right-hander Tanyon Sturtze a $1 million contract for the 2003 season Saturday.

Sturtze, who became a free agent when Tampa Bay didn't offer him a contract Friday, went 4-18 with a 5.18 ERA in 33 starts for the Devil Rays last season.

Sturtze has a career record of 22-33 with a 5.07 ERA in 119 games with the Chicago Cubs, Texas Rangers, Chicago White Sox and Devil Rays.

"Tanyon is a quality addition for us, he is strong, dependable pitcher who has proven he can deliver 200 innings in a season," Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi said.

Ricciardi was probably right about the 200+ innings he'll give ya. I don't know maybe that's worth a million just for that reason alone, but one thing's for sure pitchers out there with the kind of stuff Sturtze has are readily available. The guy has a fastball that's about as straight as an arrow...no movement whatsoever.

Thought maybe he could develop into an above average pitcher with the good last half he had in 2001, but all that did was give Tampa Bay to much hope for him. The guy basically sucked up all the innings for Hal McRae and the DRays. McRae left him in there when he should have pulled him and took him out when he should have let him go longer......very hard mentally on a pitcher.

The guy does have a rep. as being a gamer and if he works on maybe a cutter this offseason, you never know, but with the stuff he has right now, all he's gonna do is eat innings like he did in Tampa.
