This was announced today that Jerry Kill, HFC at Minnesota will take leave, due to his seizures which are coming from epilepsy. Kill is the first known Head Football Coach to suffer from this ailment which he has not had in the past until his hiring at the U of Minnesota. Before this season, Kill's health was only as follows: Kill suffered a series of seizures, including one on the sidelines in the waning seconds of a home loss to Illinois State on October 15, 2005.[24] Subsequently, Kill was diagnosed with kidney cancer, which is now in remission. Kill has since started the Coach Kill Cancer Fund foundation to assist low-income southern Illinois residents with treatment.[25]

On September 11, 2010, Kill was hospitalized for dehydration hours after a 23?17 win over North Dakota [26] One year later, on September 10, 2011, Kill was rushed to the hospital after suffering yet another seizure and collapsing on the sidelines, this time during the final seconds of Minnesota's loss to New Mexico State.[27] On September 25, 2011, Kill was admitted to the Mayo Clinic after suffering another seizure.[28] On October 13, 2012, he suffered a minor seizure after a Minnesota-Northwestern game and was released the following day.[29][30] Kill missed the entire 2nd half of the Michigan State game on November 24 due to suffering another seizure at halftime. During the home win on September 14, 2013 against Western Illinois University, he suffered a seizure, just before halftime; he missed the entire second half of the game.

Kill is a great person and very good football man, but it's probably time for him to go to the booth or sidelines of a football network and work some games as an analyst or field reporter. He's great for the game of football, however, his health is more important than the game. His family needs him and the football community needs him, but the distractions of the seizures are going to take it's final toll on his career as a Head Football Coach.

Epilespy isn't something to mess with. I know several people who've had it, who are with us now and who have left us over the years. It's a cruel disease and it's an unpredictable ailment that effects many peoples' lives on a daily basis.

Much love and luck to Coach Kill and his family!

Hopefully he can get better and they can find out what is causing him to have the siezures. It would be best if Coach Kill would retire.
