NEW YORK -- "According to NewsChannel4's Jonathan Dienst, three people were arrested and one other was being sought Saturday in connection to a plot to blow up jet-fuel lines at John F. Kennedy International Airport, officials said.

Four people have been charged. One is in custody in New York. Three suspects in total are in custody. One is still at large.

According to sources, the suspects have been identified as: Russell Defreitas, Abdul Nur, Kareem Ibrihim and Abdul Kadir.

Sources said a cargo worker at JFK allegedly began to plot attacking the US last July or August. The cargo worker sought help in carrying out a plan and went to an FBI informant, who gathered information about the plot.

The cargo worker is a U.S. citizen with roots in Guyana. Sources said he be a former government official in Guyana.

Sources said counter-terrorism officials have been following the plot for a little less than one year."

--sure hope there wasn't any harsh interrogation methods used to uncover plot

--sure hope ACLU is on board any flight that involves extradiadition from trinidad .

--sure hope if they are found guilty of of conspiracy to murder thousands that we have another attorney general to take their case

you know,dtb....we may be jumping the gun on the islamist thing.....

kerry said that terrorism is nothing more than a "nuisance".....and edwards ain`t buying this "they`re trying to kill us" stuff.....

they may just have a point....

think about it.....this could very well could be "blowback"(as my "ron paul" said).....

but, blowback for the commercial on the "outdoor channel", where the two amish men are riding in their buggy, and then they stop, and make sure that nobody is watching, and then they uncover this 4 wheeler, and go meet their buddies who have done the same, and they build a small barn, with power tools and all.......

yep,it's amish "blowback", for sure........horse and buggy blowback....:yup

OK. They're always busted in the planning phase, always have been infiltrated and under surveillance for at least 18 months, a federal prosecutor is on the spot for a passioned blab about what could have happened save for the heroic FBI, CIA or the Welcome Wagon lady. Comon, where are the guys busted for the Sears Tower who didn't know where it was, or the Maimi gang or the Atanta whoevers. This will be gone in a week when there's a fire somewhere or a bus overtuns in Podunk. We won't be reminded again until the elections come around and they tell us how safe we are but don't come out from underneath the kitchen table just yet, because Ivan, no I mean Jose, no that can't be right, Oh yeah, I meant Moofiffen is ready to attack. Fear - Fear - Fear

what dan`s trying to say is:
""how many feckin` neocon made up feckin` entrapment feckin` cases do i have to tolerate while these f’n warmongering f’n racist wingnut f’n feckers prosecute my poor dark skinned brothers to f’n steal my f’n rights with their f’n patriot f’n act....

f’n nazi bushie f’rs can just kiss my f’n ass!"

and let me throw in:

"question the timing"

"bushitler/rovian plot"

"zionist plot"

there....that`s what dan was tryin` to spit out...

and i say the constant trying to pin the tail on the donkey attitude by the dan`s and msm when reporting on these events that are happening ALL OVER THE WORLD simply points to general lack of knowledge about extremeist muslims and also an inate human need to be able to identify the enemy by name.....

when every news reports has to include some sort of confirmation or denial of a link to al qaeda shows that they just don't get it......

hell's angels ride motorcycles and market`s illegal drugs but when is the last time you heard about a drug bust where they felt it necessary to try and draw a link to hell's angels?....

dan`s waiting for another 3,000 are burned to a crisp before he buys into this neocon b.s.....

what`s really bothersome to me is that now that rosie`s off the air,we`ll never get the true skinny on this "plan"......

that's one of the problems, gw....

there's more people like dan than let on. maybe dan will feel more comfortable if the feds let these plots go further along or even not act on them at all. this way we all will know what these terrorist's are capable of.....

like who? what daily experiences do you have that lead you to this conclusion? ...not counting a daily dose of Bill O'Reilly of course.

Why can't this just be a news story? Why all the ridiculous disconnected editorials? It's a news item free from agenda, and then all of a sudden Weasel and DTB try to blame something on the media that doesn't exist. Very annoying and misleading.

People did their job and a plot was foiled. Done and done. What's so fu*king difficult about that?

`cause they`re trying to kill us....and the media`s pooh-poohing that fact....

10 year old throws ham in a sack on table of muslims...media goes wild.,,,"malicious intent!... HATE CRIME!".....

4 grown men plan to blow up jfk airport as part of a larger global jihad, "plot not feasible... no threat." ...

"done and done" says ole` smurph........please don`t bother me with such trivial crap(like blowing up one of the nation`s largest, busiest airports and parts of new jersey)....

one thing i think smurph and myself can agree on.....we must find out what the jews know and when did they know it!

Not blaming anyone smurph--just trying to open some eyes on the diff of parties priorities on war on terror--Just think if some had there way on terrorist rights-interrogation-survailence- ect.

--I would assume there was some sort of leak in place or we would have never heard about--logic would dictate to keep events as such under wraps and trap more trying to communicate with those involved--would hate to guess what has went on behind the scenes.

Been very fortunate so far--and regardless of peoples stance on survailence interrogation ect--fathom the outcry had this event or others got off the ground--because we did not pull all stops to prevent--its like I said in other thread--put the liberals in power with their visions on terrorists rights and let the shit hit the fan and public will put bounties on them.

add this one to a few others that have been stopped by this "inept" admin --that we know about

Foiled Plots in U.S. Since Sept. 11
Tuesday, May 08, 2007

Here are some of the cases of plots or alleged plots cited by U.S. authorities since Sept. 11, 2001:

December 2001: Richard Reid, a British citizen and self-described follower of Osama bin Laden, foiled in attempt to blow up a Paris-to-Miami flight with explosives hidden in his shoes. He pleaded guilty in 2002.

May 2002: Jose Padilla is arrested in Chicago on a return trip from Pakistan. Initially held as an enemy combatant and accused of planning to build a "dirty bomb," he was formally charged with aiding foreign jihadists in a Miami court in 2005. Jury selection in his trial began in April.

September 2002: The "Lackawanna Six," American citizens of Yemeni descent living near Buffalo, N.Y., are arrested for allegedly having attended an al-Qaida camp in Afghanistan in the months before the Sept. 11 attacks. The six pleaded guilty in 2003 to providing material support to a terrorist organization.

May 2003: Iyman Faris of Columbus, Ohio, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Kashmir, pleads guilty to supporting al-Qaida. He was accused of planning to destroy the Brooklyn Bridge. He is sentenced to 20 years.

June 2003: In Virginia, the FBI charges a group of men with being part of a conspiracy to support holy war overseas. In all, 11 men eventually were convicted in what the government described as a "Virginia jihad network" that used paintball games as a form of training.

August 2004: U.S. authorities issue alert, announce evidence of a years-long plot to attack the New York Stock Exchange and other financial institutions in New York, Washington and Newark, N.J. They later accuse plotters of also planning attacks in England. Eventually, five men pleaded guilty in London, alleged ringleader Dhiren Barot was convicted there, at least one other man is awaiting trial.

August 2004: Two men are arrested on the eve of the Republican Convention in New York for allegedly plotting to blow up a busy subway station. James Elshafay, a U.S. citizen, eventually pleaded guilty and testified against the other man, Shahawar Matin Siraj, a Pakistani. Siraj was sentenced to 30 years in prison; Elshavy to five.

August 2004: Authorities arrest two leaders of a mosque in Albany, N.Y., and charge them with aiding in a purported plot to buy a shoulder-fired grenade launcher to assassinate a Pakistani diplomat. The former imam of the Masjid As-Salam mosque, Kurdish refugee Yassin Aref, and Mohammed Hossain, a mosque founder, later found guilty to counts relating to money laundering and conspiracy.

June 2005: A Pakistani immigrant and his American-born son in Lodi, Calif., are arrested for allegedly lying to the FBI about the younger man's training at a jihadist camp in Pakistan. Hamid Hayat, the son, was found guilty of supporting terrorism and lying to the FBI. He is seeking a new trial. The case against Umer Hayat, the father, ended in a mistrial; he later pleaded guilty to lying to a customs agent about trying to carry $28,000 into Pakistan.

August 2005: Four California men, one the founder of a radical Islamic prison group, are indicted for allegedly conspiring to attack Los Angeles-area military bases, synagogues and other targets. The men have pleaded not guilty and await trial.

February 2006: Three men are arrested in Toledo, Ohio, for allegedly providing material support to terrorists. One of the men is accused of downloading videos on the use of suicide-bomb vests.

April 2006: Two Georgia men are charged with material support of terrorism after allegedly videotaping buildings in the Washington area, including the Capitol and the World Bank, and sending the video to a London extremist active on jihadist Web sites.

June 2006: The FBI announces the arrests of seven men in Miami and Atlanta in what officials called the early stages of a plot to blow up the Sears Tower in Chicago, and destroy FBI offices and other buildings. All pleaded not guilty and are awaiting trial.

July 2006: U.S. authorities announce the arrest of Assem Hammoud, a Lebanese man they claim was plotting to bomb New York City train tunnels to flood the financial district.

March 2007: A Pentagon transcript is released indicating that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the suspected mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks, confessed to that attack and a string of other terror plots, including that of Reid, during a military hearing at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

---and don't forget the one Pakistan help stop on blowing up several U.S. airliners on overseas flights.

although he hasn't made any outragious statements yet, i'll retract my statement on obama.but by edwards stating that the war on terror is a "bumper sticker", i'm prepared to put him right next to dan.....& if you don't think there are more people who think like dan, you're mistaken....

What in this story was "pooh-poohed"?

not just this one......every plot thwarted..

the old, "this wasn't a well developed plan",or "they were just kids playing with matches" or "they were amateurs, goaded into action by fbi agents" or "they were dullards with no real ability to carry out such an attack"......

there is no terrorist threat...there is no terrorist threat.....it`s the old ,"if a tree falls in the woods" tactic.....

ignore it...and it`s not really there....

problem solved...

and the underlying message?....the REAL enemy is bush....

The full Edwards quote:

"The war on terror is a slogan designed only for politics, not a strategy to make America safe. It's a bumper sticker, not a plan," Edwards said. "It has damaged our alliances and weakened our standing in the world."

....There is a lot of truth in this statement. You guys are either taking it out of context or completely misquoting him. The term "war on terror" has never been DEFINED, it's only been used politically. ...I believe Kosar has been basically saying this for a while. If he hasn't, then I apologize to him.

Bush has been able to use this undefined phrase as an excuse for a lot of things - including invading Iraq.

What Edwards is saying is that we need a mature plan, not a bumper sticker phrase. I think you guys know he meant this, but are opportunists and purposefully using his words incorrectly in order to slam him because you don't like him.

So I ask again, what was understated about THIS incident. You are merging peices that you like from dozens of other stories as well as making up your own quotes and merging them all as if they were from this particular incident.

What was reported incorrectly or understated about this foiled plot?
