The full Edwards quote:

"The war on terror is a slogan designed only for politics, not a strategy to make America safe. It's a bumper sticker, not a plan," Edwards said. "It has damaged our alliances and weakened our standing in the world."

....There is a lot of truth in this statement. You guys are either taking it out of context or completely misquoting him. The term "war on terror" has never been DEFINED, it's only been used politically. ...I believe Kosar has been basically saying this for a while. If he hasn't, then I apologize to him.

Bush has been able to use this undefined phrase as an excuse for a lot of things - including invading Iraq.

What Edwards is saying is that we need a mature plan, not a bumper sticker phrase. I think you guys know he meant this, but are opportunists and purposefully using his words incorrectly in order to slam him because you don't like him.

and his mature plan is ?

and btw...thanks for telling me what i know....

So I ask again, what was understated about THIS incident. You are merging peices that you like from dozens of other stories as well as making up your own quotes and merging them all as if they were from this particular incident.

What was reported incorrectly or understated about this foiled plot?

smurph...the story broke today...it`s saturday.....the end of the weekly news cycle.....there have been few stories.....and virtually no opinion pieces written.....

you`re getting basic reportage right now...all the facts aren`t known...

i am predicting that come early next week, you`ll see the usual msm stories pooh-poohing this bust......

lets wait and see.....i`m betting that the slant will continue..in fact,i`m sure of it...

and of course,i`ll be your guiding light...:walk:

They are from Trinidad?? and Saudi???. is this right or Wrong.
By the way the complete pipe line due to it's design would not have blown up. So that part from Fox is total Bull.

Smurph do you know the right specifically hires guys to spin words? It works and you see it here on a daily basis. Edwards comments again were spun for the fear game and these guys fall for it over and over again and when you are this naive you can be told what and who to vote for. Now do the democrats hire these spinners? They probably do now since the right beat them to it but the right are masters at it. One thing the right knows how to do is to manipulate people and the Democrats have no clue on how to do this. You see what Paul said but you have guys like Weasal here calling him every name in the book. Just like his boy's at Fox. If Rudy didn't say anything about this it would have just blown right by without them even noticing it.

I don't know what is plan is - that's not the point. The point is that his quote isn't being used accurately by you or the other spinmeisters. The point is that the phrase "war on terror" has been used as a slogan, rather than a sound strategy being established that makes sense.

And yes - I know what you know. You know?

OK, that's brilliant. So you don't actually have any beef over the way this story has been handled yet. Rather, your entire point of this thread is to pre-emptively bash the media for their coverage that has not yet been reported.

....and then after all your bashing, you throw out the "let's wait and see" line.

What drugs are you on, exactly?

I thought all the terrorist were in Iraq. I thought we were going to fight them there so we wouldn't have to here. Isn't that what we were told?

What drugs are you on, exactly?

no......my entire point is to enlighten those that have limited access to the news of the day....

it`s a big story...there was no mention of it in this forum......so,i posted it and then responded to dan......

i gave the opinion that the msm will AGAIN spin the story to either pooh-pooh the plot or just play dumb....

remember the canadian plot awhile back in which the toronto star stated, that "it is difficult to find a common denominator" among those who would kill us.....lol..(now that`s funny)...

.course you don`t...it disappeard faster than ryan leaf`s career...

do you remember reading about the maryland sniper john allen muhammad?...i`m sure you remember that......he was convicted of six murders from his fall 2002 beltway-area shooting spree.....

what you didn`t read about was his brainwashed muslim prot?g?, lee malvo, who testified that the duo plotted to kill children, cops, and pregnant women — and to recruit and train 140 homeless men at a canadian compound who would commit mass terror in cities across america....

do you remember the media addressing the obvious terrorism angle?....of course not...it was all but ignored...

do the name mohammed reza taheri-azar ring a bell?.....no?......he drove a rented jeep cherokee into a mass of students on the campus of the university of north carolina at chapel hill to avenge u.s.actions against muslims around the world...

"I live with the holy Koran as my constitution for right and wrong and definition of injustice,"he wrote.....

but,he was a nutjob...no connection to al qaeda(or hell`s angels for that matter...like that would preclude him from killing infidela in the name of allah).....didn`t change the fact that it was terrorism, even though you`d never have known it from reading the msm reports....

an isolated incident....who cares...

like 2 summer`s ago when officials busted a terrorist plot to attack infidels at military and jewish sites in los angeles on the fourth anniversary of 9/11 or the jewish holy days....

these dudes were converted at california`s folsom state prison....

or the holy warrior that shot up that jewish women`s center....

jose padilla...the shoe bomber.....lodi, california....miami plot against the sears tower....new york subway tunnels..."liquid explosives” plot on u.k. to u.s.flights,the fort dix six...

no biggie...just some a few off the top....

but,can you say abu gharaib?...that ring a bell?....gitmo?...panties on the head?....

was in the news and on the front pages of major msm papers for years...still is.....

i think you get my point...unless those two lonely neurons in your mushy skull disappeared as fast as islamist terrorism stories did in the msm....

remember..."There is no terrorist threat in this country. This is a lie. This is the biggest lie we've been told."
~ Michael Moore

that`s right..despite all these isolated incidents,.bush,as incompetent as he is,is the true threat....

the personal devastation of "bush derangement syndrome" is as painful to watch as ebola, alcoholism, or a ben affleck movie.....

The FBI must work for the Cable News Networks.
Terror of the month was thwarted again. Tadah

There is nothing to make up. Read the report, "there was no major threat to air travel related to this plot." " there was intent but it was not operational . " In the period before this administration was given a second term, we had the threat level color of the day, yes things were made up for the consumption of the American People. DTB, thanks for pointing out, what priorities our parties have on the war on terror. Could you point out what the parties priorities are for the war on drugs and education ?? There is no major difference when it comes to these two parties. Yes our government does make things up to justify its existence. It's a shame these bad news cops couldn't connect the dots when the 911 plan was no threat and was not operational. Who's fooling who ? Does anyone really think that if the republicans lose the white house it's the end as we know it ? I love these quotes that they take out of context to discredit the democrats . I'm not voting for Hilary or Oboma but it has nothing to do with how they would fight terror. I just find it funny that some people think only republicans can fight terror. PLEASE !!!

yeah...that wasn`t very sporting of the fbi....they should have played it like they do on "24"......and foiled the plot at the last possible moment...

just remember my friend, that "just talking trash" at an airport has become the new equivalent of shouting "fire!" in a crowded theater......

and this seems a bit more serious than that.....igniting a a jet fuel pipeline spanning from jfk into new jersey.....they had an insider from the airport,a dignitary from trinidad and an engineer in on the plot from what i`ve read initially...

There is HUGE diff on liberals (but not all Dems) and conservatives on fighting terror.

Maybe I can get you to rationalize this way.

If 911 could have been averted by any of the following--which one do you personally think should not have been done to avoid it.

--Not giving the terrorist attorneys
--water boarding
--shipping terrorist out of country for questioning
--eavesdropping on their phone conversation without judicial approval 1st
--embarrassing them while confined
--profiling

Would you rather be P.C. and answer to the masses that died or may die because of it--or be prudent and avoid catastrophe at all cost.

There in lies the diff between liberals and conservatives.

It would be nice if our crackerjack intelligence agencies could someday make some progress toward finding OBL. Last time I checked he was behind the only successful attack on US soil.

There has been some info on this and here it is:
We give Pakistan 80 million a month for military reimbursements for its supposed counter terrorism efforts. Payments total already is at 5.6 billion. These payments have not been tied to any performance benchmarks or goals meaning we pay Pakistan regarding of its commitment to finding Bin Laden and its effectiveness in hunting Al Qaeda.
Musharraf struck an accord with tribal warlords last September wherein he agreed to remove the Pakistani army from the northwest part of the country(where bin Laden believed to have crossed from Afghanistan) and cede all control of them.
Unconscionably, it has become unimportant to find the man responsible for killing over 3000 innocent Americans. So in essence we are outsourcing this hunt for Bin Laden and if the Democrats were in office we would be hearing about this every freaking day. One has to wonder, do they really want to catch this guy and did he really do this? You get a guy on the FBI's top ten list and they hunt them forever but this guy seems to just go about his business.
