BUST OR NO BUST

With Jimmy Claussen coming to ND, it will help recruiting. HS Senoirs watch SC just like we do, and with JC being the most highly recruited QB ( in a long time ) more HS Senoirs will WANT to attends ND for that simple " IF " factor. IF Claussen is great i want to play with him, thats what the top recruites will say.

What i think ??? IF anyone matters.

The more the MERRIER, Weis has a plan and i think this is just page 1.

No more words of wisdom STINKY??? :) Its upsetting to find out you really know nothing about something you thought you did know something about huh!! :) Easy to blurt out things like:

"LOL - I love haters... Rick Mirer was the second pick in the NFL draft. Josh Booty has yet to prove himself, because he was starting behind Lienart the last two years. Please try and make some sense when you post. BTW - None of those players had the the hype of Jimmy Clausen.

Thats got to be embarrassing!! Especially That remark: Try to make some sense when you post.

Thats words of wisdom there!! Why dont you read those words( your own words at that) and try to comprehend them!!!!

Game over Boys...

The most highly touted QB since John Elway.

I guess Ben Rothlisberger wasn't touted but it seems to me that kid is pretty good too. This is hype guys and until someone puts on that jersey and puts up his numbers then I would start to give a boy credit when it is due.

But for now all it is is a name....kid could break his leg and career be done for all intents and purposes, then Notre Dame loses a scholarship and sux for recruiting.

I feel like some of the best players of next year will be those that we haven't heard of and will emerge to be great ball players...

I'm just saying that I hate hype...especially this early

God - You might be the dumbest person on the site. Rick Mirer was a pretty good COLLEGE football player, I could care LESS what he did in the PROS. His performance in COLLEGE was the reason he was choosen as the #2 pick in the NFL. Jesus - You're stupid.

Ben Rothlisberger - Was a WIDE RECEIVER in high school until his Senior year. After he switched from receiver to QB and broke many school records, a lot of the bigger schools came calling but he stuck with the first school (Miami of Ohio) who offered him a scholarship.

Diapers.....

I respect that its fun to speculate over players....I do all the time. But to say, "game over boys" about someone who is just a boy put a bad taste in my mouth. I'm all about seing what someone can do at the NEXT level. Hell he may be the best someday, but for someone who hates hype it kinda bothered me....I'm looking forward to seing what the boy can accomplish in the future....

Ben Rothlisberger was a nobody 3-4 years ago, now he's big time...that's the point I was trying to get across....

Hype is just that, hype. Until it turns into the real thing, hype doesnt make Claussen anything more than that.

But his career aside, his committment to Notre Dame is an indicator of the strength of the program's recruiting under Weis. Anyone with that much hype clearly has a final goal of going into the NFL. By choosing Notre Dame, Claussen is showing his confidence that the program can take him to the next level.

Obviously, best case scenario for ND fans, this guy develops to full potential and has a great college and NFL career. Only time will tell, but regardless, choosing ND over his other suitors displays a confidence in the program that has been lost for a long time. Its that confidence and prestige that fed Notre Dame's winning and dominance before the Bob Davie Debacle. Bottom line, even if this kid never takes one NFL snap, the message has been sent nationwide. ND is the top choice for top NFL calibur athletes, particularly QB's and receivers who want to be around top QB's. The rest will fall into place, and hopefully some defense too... :mj07:

"Rick Mirer 2nd pick in NFL draft" but you dont care?? :) I guess not since he is one of the top 20 biggest busts!! I am dumb yeah right!! Keep on with your kiddy insults!! Bottom line There have been many kids touted as the next greatest this and that and flubbed!! So until any of them prove it on the field: The Game over crap and whatever else your feeble mind can think of is a sign of your weak mind buying into the "HYPE" !!!! Maybe Clausen will come thru for you! But Notre dame recruited in the top 5 for years during 80's and early 90's and what have they got to show for it????????

Mirer was an NFL bust, but he still had a great college career. This is an "ncaa" thread. What does Mirer's NFL career have to do with Claussen's shot in college??

Claussen has "proved it on the field". College is harder than high school no doubt, and of course there is risk that he wont develop into even a good college QB. But Rick Mirer is not a good example of a high school QB that didnt pan out in college. Poor choice of examples

What did Notre Dame have to show for its recruiting in the 80s and early 90s?? Are you serious? I dunno, being ranked in the top 5 like 80% of the time from 80-93, and a national title. Guess that doesnt mean anything...

One national title that boads well but not really that good a feat with all those recruiting classes!! Give an SEC team top five recruiting classes every year for around 10 years and see what happens! Nick Saban came to LSU 3 top five classes and National title within 4 years!! Plus Notre Dames Schedule is always weak! Getting off point here sorry Clausen needs to prove it on the field all the hype means nothing till he does!! THE GAME SURE AS HELL ISN"T OVER!!!!
