There are plenty of jobs in the oilfield. The oilfield is booming. People are looking for rigs and people to work. You dont have to work on a rig there are plenty of jobs in the service area of the oilfield. And they pay well aslo. Trust me i know im in the oilfield.

yeah, pharmacists need extra or specialized schooling, I think? My basic point in all this is why not considering moving if theres great opportunity somewhere and job growth, ala vegas had experienced, scott went nuts as usual...i'm sure oil rig work is tough, and manual labor is tough in general but maybe theres white collat aspects...well, another 8 months still until I need to find a "real job" instead of poker online and the golf course

There are plenty of salesman jobs in the oilfield. Can you sell if they train you?

My neighbor two doors down works on an offshore oil rig and has been for about a year or more. I don't see him much as he is there for a couple of weeks at a time, but he did say that the money was good.

Odessa/Midland area is much cheaper than the NY area as far as housing, etc...... Also there is no state tax in TX, don't know if there is in NY. There are three areas in TX that are in the top fifty of city/growth type surveys. Not sure where I saw that at, so whatever but there are at least 1600 more homes within 10 miles of me that have gone up in the last five years due to industry growth in the area.

FedEx, Motorola, and many more. Not to mention the mint. I would look for work in the Metroplex area also, plenty of opportunities.

Thanks, FDC.....Yeah, after that guys dave post about the oil stuff, it was worth looking into......all the things you mentioned about no state income, tax, nice weather, cheaper housing, are huge plusses, I would guess the salary stretches maybe almost even 2 to 1 in Midland type place compared to NY, that is enormous....I would be scared shtless flying a bunch of feet in the air with my limbs hanging, That is rough work, but selling/white collar stuff if pays well enough, certainly worth considering, and I'm serious about these posts not trying to get attention....although, to sacrifice living in a place I like more, would have to be making enough $ to move, I am getting outta college in december ageecee, wouldnt want to live in louisiana but do you know of where is a good place to call/find these sorts of listings? Thanks...Scott, stay outta the thread and go put a fence outside my house

I liked dallas when I was there, nice place, but cost of living a lot more than midland for sure, but man the girls in texas with so much nicer personalities and nicer looking and polite than the northeast, knielf/blackman/sponge etc can attest to that i'm sure, but it would be a cool experience living down there change it up better than staying in one place forever like many do

Marine is correct, I have 2 very close friends and their wives both had multiple offers for 100k and other benis for pharmacist jobs. There is a huge demand nationwide.
