At whos expense?? Poor sportsmanship and class or the lack there of can be corrected by game suspensions.

"Act like you've been there before"

What a load of crap...open your eyes and see what the purpose of sports is: entertainment!!!

These guys do those things because its fun and they are there to entertain the millions...

Its boring to just hand back the ball with no celebration...I dont care what i'm supposed to say "Respect for the game, blah blah blah"...

Bottomline...These athletes arent down there to be boring...they are there to showcase their ability, win some games, and have fun doing it...this is what modern athletics has come to, and i like it...

I'm sure many will disagree but this is my .02

I haven't played college or nfl, but I did stay at a,... er, er , I have watched it for 39 years and this stuff is a far cry from that game back then, but hey I have come to expect it after the sharpie episode and the salute from the star in Dallas. I am getting too old to pump my blood pressure up over it anymore.

I dont care how old you are. I just disagree. I keep hearing people say that these stars are "ruining" the game? How???
These guys are prototypical athletes out there getting paid MILLIONS to play a GAME. Why? Because it generates money from the fans that want to be enteretained.

This is not a life or death profession like many the jobs many of us have in the real world. These guys play a GAME for a living, why can't they try to make it even more fun for the fan? ITS A GAME, DONT MAKE IT MORE SERIOUS THAT THAT.

As you can see, my problem is not the new-age showboat athlete. He is out there doing things that I could never dream of. My problem is that we pay him 10 mill a year and then turn around and pay our firemen, policemen, and teachers less than 30 or 40 grand a yr. conclusion: blame the importance society has put on this GAME. Thats what ruined its PURITY, not the stars that use a sharpie/cell phone to celebrate a TD.

Yes again, just my .02

I'm glad I never imagined sports getting to this point, and I'm equally surprised that I disagree with anyone sporting a Rebel flag, since I am Southern born and Southern PROUD, but this new style of self promotion and showboating that sports stars are allowed, is a distraction from the GAME!! It also affects our bets, since it breaks rules that affect field position on kickoffs and more. I believe that doing your job is not enough, but you are equally responsible to help your team, and the lack of respect for people, rules, and team sports is a product of a new society that has drug dealers as heros based on their lifestyle and the cars they drive. I certainly respect your opinion, but you can see by this thread that all are not of the same opinion. It's clear that there is a sport that welcomes this behavior and it is not based on team play...or reality for that fact.........it's Wrestling!!

I agree...I hate that the new role models of society are professional athletes...trust me i do...i really respect your opinion...I wish we could refocus kids on doctors/ teachers/ etc... as role models, but the world just doesnt work that way anymore.

Unlike t.o. Joe Horn is not hated by the media and fans nationwide. Most media love Joe. When he came out and did the cell thing, I just plain thought it was funny and entertaining. That was as deep as i took it. Nothing more, nothing less...
