Just saw a report on Twitter than Joe Pa is on his death bed. Calling family members to the home to say last goodbyes. Wow!

RIP paterno. My take is a decent, if not good, man became drunk with power and placed his and Penn st's legacies above the well-being of children.

This is true. We ALL make mistakes....his were just made late in life. I respect what JoePa accomplished as it pertains to football, but it's shameful that he didn't do all he could for the children.

Sad day all the way around.

I think his shame of what happened hastened his death. He is such a humble, kind, caring man, that he just couldn't handle the stress of going out the way he did. What a shame.

His blood is on Sandusky's hands, ultimately.

First thing I thought about too. Didn't have anything left but football. When that was taken away, he just let go.

I think time wil heal his legacy to a certain extent. The fact that Jerry Sandusky made a statement today is an outrage. In the grand scheme of things, Joe Pa will be in heaven and Sandusky will be too far away to make any more statements. Enjoy your stay in the general population in Oz, Jerry.

RIP Joe Pa.

Have a hard time with this Joe Pa thing. Great college football coach and his football legacy will be missed. But as a man, I have no respect for another man who protects a child molester.

Nobody wins. Joe was a great man, and I truly believe he didn't know how to handle that situation the right way. We all know morally and ethically what the right thing would be to do, but I'm not so sure I would have done the right thing either. It's easy now that it's had so much exposure. We'd all turn in that dirt bag in an instant now. Horrible circumstances that cast a dark cloud over a fantastic career. His quick death after the allegations and firing comes as no surprise. You have to feel bad for his wife of almost 50 years.
