(Washington, D.C.): The Center for Security Policy is gratified that its efforts, those of innumerable bloggers, radio talk show hosts and other public-minded citizens translated into an important legislative victory late last night. Thanks to the leadership of Sens. Joe Lieberman and Susan Collins, the chairman and ranking minority member, respectively, of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, and especially that of Rep. Pete King, Sen. Collins’ counterpart on the House Homeland Security Committee, legislation along the lines of that adopted by an overwhelming bipartisan majority of the House of Representatives last May at Rep. King’s initiative will shortly become law.

The language will provide protection against the sorts of harassment lawsuits filed by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) after several unidentified individuals reported six Muslim imams engaged in suspicious – and frightening – behavior prior to boarding a USAir flight in November 2006. CAIR has been identified as a front organization for the Muslim Brotherhood and is an un-indicted co-conspirator in an alleged terrorism-financing plot.

“Thanks to courageous, principled and tenacious efforts by key legislators like Rep. King and Sens. Lieberman and Collins, the American people are going to be free to do their part in the War for the Free World – serving as indispensable eyes and ears for those trying to protect us against terrorism – without fear that the likes of CAIR will be suing them for doing so.”

“We are extremely grateful to these lawmakers and also to members of the Democratic leadership who opposed such efforts, but eventually relented in the face of an outpouring of public demands that the King amendment be enacted into law. We are even more appreciative of the efforts made by all those who helped alert the public to the need to engage so directly and, ultimately, so decisively.”

you`re welcome....

told you. sooner than later. the majority of dems were wrong on this, some were not. but i think they "got it" that the public wanted this. it would be nice if a few other leaders could grasp that concept and admit when they are wrong. apocolypse averted ....for now.

You beat me to it...thanks for pointing it out so perfectly. And Hillary comes out smelling like a rose on this one...seems to be gaining strength on many fronts.

""But lets forget the past." ? All star poster Dogs That Bark when referring to an assessment of Hillary Clinton. "

Hey my friend-just noticed your tag--where did you learn that chop tactic of omitting context--from Moore or the liberal blogs :)

Hilliary and other candidates had no choice but to vote yes or abstain--however will come back to bite party in general--and rightfully so.

P.S. Shes got enough no's on her voting talley--noted in other thread--to do the job come 08.

on election progress---sure hate to see obama fading so fast--he has collected more funds than Hilliary or GOP candidates combined I believe.

--Nothing puts a smile on my face like Soros-Daily Kos-Move on ect funds going down the tubes again--but does boost economy :)

Omitting context? We were discussing the "class" portrayed by Hillary, and you were asking for presidential qualifications - I mentioned carrying herself with class, you said Let's forget the past and just concentrate on her classiness since campaigning for President.

How is that omitting context? I think it speaks directly to your ongoing points and references back to Hillary - AND Bill, for that matter - in pretty much any situation. Class, values, honesty...whatever. Since when do you EVER forget the past when it comes to her OR Bill? That was the point of my laughter and callout. Seems to be on the money, but if you need extreme context to pin you down more, I can modify it.

GardenVariety: I sincerely hope you're joking here - one never knows, though.

As a point of reference (and a little embarrassment, I suppose), I had to Google Ward Churchill, because I didn't know who he was. After reviewing Bill O'Reilly's report (is Rupert paying axtra to Google now to get them top billing on search key words along with paying for viewership on cable channels  ), and realizing that his opinion is clearly fair and balanced, I'd have to say I am not a member of that dude's tribe. Sorry to disappoint, bro.
