Dr. S., why does Canada care if Italy and Portugal win in world cup? I would understand them celebrating England, but why those 2? Thanks.

College near Concord.....This exact area will be rocking again today if Brazil wins as there's a small group of Brazilains right there. I was brought up just east of here and still live here between Little Portugual and Little Italy, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.....love it. My father being Italian and having 95% Italian friends makes me cheer on for Italy but not to the extend of partying. Now having a Portugese son-in-law :scared and Portugese friends makes me also cheer on Portugal..........all good stuff with people having fun. :toast:

Watching here also......Croatia's giving them such a go of it that one of my buddies probably lost 20 pounds sweating out a Brazil win....The horns here will be honking in about another 5 minutes

Clinton,

it is not so much canada as it is in Toronto. Toronto is a multicultural city (over 148 different ethnicities found here), the 3 largest being british, italian and portuguese. Now in the city of toronto, whenever portugal or italy wins, it is a riot over here (spectacle more like it). The italians and portuguese are always against one another. When italy wins, the italians will go to the portuguese part of town to celebrate and vice versa. There have many many fights over the years and it will always be this way. Cars honking, people cheering, screaming, dancing, waving flags, police shutting down major streets. Honestly, I can't think of a better place to be during the world cup than in toronto due to the festivities that take place.

Clint, if any of these mentioned teams advance far enough, i'll be heading home to celebrate and i'll take some pics, only then will you see what i mean as words do not do it justice.

Did you know i'm half italian half portuguese?
no matter who wins, i'm celebrating, lol

was wondering what the big deal was; thanks for the explanation. I knew Toronto was very diverse, but I didn't realize that these 3 groups were in the majority. Sounds like the place to be if you're a fan. Cheers, eh!

Jake, my name is Clint, lol.

:mj07: ....Clint, not laughing at your name by no means, just a lol in character, but when I first seen the Dr's Clinton, I thought he was directing it at me as the street, which there is a Clinton. A few years back Clinton/College was listed in the top 10 corners of ???? I can't remember if I was told it just Canada or North America. But if you're a fan it is the place to be....without a doubt. Nice chatting with you...take care.
