Why do they force people to serve jury duty? Nobody likes it, i thought this was a free country? Why not the option of serving or not, instead of serving or a bench warrant. If i'am picked the state better have hard evidence, i don't convict on popular opinion.

Here's my suggestion, thanks to Sam Kinison. Simply walk into the courtroom for the first time, screaming...

:00hour "GUILTY, GUILTY, GUILTY!!!":00hour

That should take care of any further duty.

Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
tell them you have a very weak kidney

tell them you have a very weak kidney

I was legitimately self employed when they called me in, I was told that was not excuse enuff, finally I told them I had to faithfully go pee every 15 minutes to half hour, they raised a major stink but let me go.

The pompous asses last words were.... "I hope you NEVER have need for the legal system" from what I had seen of the legal system, I took that as a compliment and trotted out of his office:142smilie

As a matter of fact I think they took me off the list ten years ago...

Why do they force people to serve jury duty?

Its important. The Founders put the right to jury trial in 6th and 7th Amendments. It may be a pain, but we should all be happy to participate in the democracy, while we still have it. Not everyone gets that chance.

I believe in serving as it supports our system and its all we have.

One time I was sitting in the room and the lawyers were interviewing the crowd to choose jurors.

They called on me and asked me if I believe in the death penalty.

I said.... I believe in hanging them high.

They excused me, and thanked me for coming.
