I was a safety and special teamer. Didn't last very long either. I remember showing up 2 weeks before school started for fall practice and on the 2nd day we ran 40's. I was clocked at 4.71, which was about what I had been running all spring and summer, at 6'2", 205. The guy after me, also a Safety, clocked a 4.5 and the guy after him was 4.4! I learned what the Scout team was very quickly! I still miss it. And watching these games makes me miss it even more!

6'2 315lbs recruited by Nebraska Mich and Wisconsin to play OT decided to stay home and work rental cars and get a partial foot amputation in stead. lol. I know you guys didnt make it or only played small time but I would have killed even for that. I loved football my whole life but because of head issue I wasnt allowed to play so as much as you may miss it I envy the fact you got a chance to play in college at all and I am sure none of you would change it either.

Tough break TM! Glad to know that you're alive and well and joining us all here on a weekly basis to discuss the game we alllove so much! Of the schools that recruited you, which would you have wanted to play for the most? I was recruited by Middle Tennessee State, Western Carolina, App State and a few other smaller ones. Decided to go the Invited Walk-On route to the ACC.....

Well I was teasing about being recruited at all. I wasnt allowed to play football growing up so never played other then backyard games. If I was recruited by those three i would probably say I would have to choose Wisconsin. But my dream school growing up was Arkansas. Dont know why just always liked them growing up.But thanks glad to be here and alive and hanging with the degenerates. I mean members of this site.:0074 :0074

Does Club Football count?? lol

Played for a nationally ranked high school team and never started a game. But it was a lot of fun just being on the team, competing in practice, and getting in on special teams and garbage time.

Played a couple years of club football at ACC school. I'd compare it to semi-pro for college kids. It was sort of a combination of high school football and pickup football with pads. A lot of fun and I started every game. Just wish I had found out they had a club team before my last couple years of college.

We had to pay to play and we only practiced 3 days a week for 2 hours each. Played other colleges and you pretty much got to the game any way you could, dressed on the field, etc.

Sometimes crowds would be as many as 100 people. lol. A lot of fun, competitive football and it gave me a chance to extend my "career" and also actually start and play in real games.

I remember one day that no coaches came to practice. We decided to play a pickup game of offense vs defense in pads.

It was dumb as hell but nobody got hurt and I caught the game winning touchdown!! I just remember the defense sucked on offense and most of the offense didn't want to tackle anybody hahahaha

5'10" 180 lbs. is not that small for a college corner. A 4.5 40 isn't that bad at all ,either.

But why

do you

always

type

like this?

just outside of D.C.
Played highschool football and than when I was a freshman at SMU in 1991 during orientation I remember someone from football team came up to me and asked me to play ball for them. They said I would play against Oklahoma/Nebraska etc and I was like....HELL NO!! I went to College to chase tail, drink beer and screw as many blond hair cowboy boot/hat wearing girls at SMU!! I didn't go to school to get killed!! I was only 6-2 and 225 and no business playing with REAL D-1 athletes.

May sound silly ....but sometimes to this day I still deram about playing high school football gamesl...the pre game pep talks, bus rides to away games, camaraderie with teammates, pre-season 5AM 5 mile runs, HILLS...oh the HILLS....putting on the pads and lacing up the cleats before a game....it was fucking great!! Always say I wish I could go back in time and play one more game with what I know now and enjoy every second of it!

Sorry....saw this thread and had to post.... :0008

helluva way to recruit kids

wait til they get there, and pick the one who looks good

seriously though, I remember all the things you spoke of regarding H.S football. Man o man what a fun time. I miss it all. I used to get so pissed if I made a tackle, and PJ Miller (12th grade english teacher who did all the announcing at gamess) would call out the wrong name....i loved just the thought of all those people watching...

makes ya wonder what it feels like at a big time program...

we shall never know....the college i played at averaged 2000 fans a game...:sadwave:

Zamo....that's awesome. I remember being a Jr/Sr in North Carolina...late 80s/early 90s....

I actually thought about trying to go to SMU and play. They were off the death penalty and sucked ass....so it was like one of those crazy dreams.

No way I could have afforded to go anywhere out of state.....but I think if we had been rich...I would have at least applied and seen what happened.

It was all pipe dreams....but I do remember telling a few guys I wanted to go to SMU and play football. lol. I actually drive a Mustang now :)
