Saw Texas play Houston.. Ran around at Texas Staium and kicked a field goal..
San Antonio was nice...
Riverwalk was cool.. ate at a great Mexican place there (Mi something or other)
Went to Slitterbaun.. great water park
Sea World both blew and sucked at the same time.
Houston was great.. Ate at Ruth Chris Steakhouse..
Saw the Cubs vs. Astros on the fourth....
All in all great state .. friendly people..

I assume you are talking about Mi Tierra. :SIB

BTW, Schlitterbahn is usually the top ranked waterpark in the country when the Travel Channel features the waterpark special. Their designing group tries new stuff their before they install rides for other waterparks in the country.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed our state.

Hokie Fan, don't take this the wrong way, but the next time you are in Texas, there are much better places to get a steak than a chain like Ruth Chris. Still sounds like you had a good time, which you should as the state has a lot to offer.

Shlitterbahn was on the travel channel as the best water park and it didnt dissapoint..
Poon.. just so happened Ruth Chris was right next to my hotel..
Ended up in there bar drinking with the manager and Matra D
$20 for about 6 Merlots for myself and wife and as many shirley temples the kids could drink.. plus the steak was real good...
Again I was just impressed with how nice every one was..
Coming from the North east we dont see that every day..

Yeh good old southern hospitality.

Going to be in Texas myself next week for a wedding.

Got to drive from Dallas airport to Austin because my wife thought it was only two hours. So I make the reservations and then find out...

Ends up it takes more like 5. I think its down I-35 maybe through the desert.

Geez Louise.... woman

yup, one boooooring drive!

We used to stop by Texas Ranger Museum in Wacko (I mean Waco) to view the sh*t load of pistols, rifles, blunderbusses, machine guns, derringers, pepperboxes, Winchesters, etc on display in room after room---but they've gotten more "sensitive" and cut way back on the firearms display. :sadwave:

not too far off I-35, bit north of Austin, is one of the BBQ icons of Texas. Mueller's BBQ!! definitely stop here if you got the time!

the drive from el paso to san antonio is the most boringest drive ever.

hell, the drive is like 550 miles, almost the distance from san diego to san fransisco and some change.

You can drive I-10 thru Texass in one day---well, a long summer day if you really stab that pedal hard...

I thought of it when I heard my Maine relatives complain of the boring long drive from Bangor to Houlton, ME (which takes just a few hours and has a snow-covered mountain and pine trees to look at!)

reminds me of classic joke:

A Maine farmer and a Texas rancher struck up a conversation. The Texan asked the Maine farmer
about the the size of his spread. The Maine farmer taciturnly replied "it's a large farm." The Texan
rancher, as a Texan is wont to do, boasted:

" My ranch is so large, that I can get into my pickup truck at dawn, drive west until sunset, and still be on my ranch."

To which the Maine Farmer replied
"Ayeh, used to have a truck like that too."

That would be a long, long summer day. You would be looking at over 850 miles of highway and I would guarantee at least two traffic jams along the way. :com:
