Hey everyone, Sure I cheated on my first wife, and gave her the papers while battling cancer. But that's my personal life. Sure I then married the mistress. But that's my personal life. Sure I then cheated on that wife. But that's my personal business. sure I think divorced her and married that mistress. But that's my personal life. Sure I was one of the main voices demonizing clinton for having an affair in the white house while having an affair myself, but that's my personal business. Sure I got thrown out of my speakership by my own party for ethics. Sure my own party fined me 300k for ethics violations, as I was the first speaker in history for that to happen too.

And sure I crawled home with my tail between my legs, but that's all in the past and has no bearing on me now. come on, can I have your vote. You can trust me?

he is still better than Obama

What has Obama done that was not started by Bush? The only reason I say that is because you championed everything Bush did. Now we get this closet Neocon and you denounce it all. Very strange to me? I could see if Obama ended the tax cvuts for the wealthy then you could have something to piss and moan about. But all he has done, which pisses me off, is carry on the policies of your poster boy.

Newt Gingrich personally urged members of Congress to vote for a controversial Medicare expansion bill in 2003, two Republicans who were in the room said this week.

Gingrich, who is running for president, has said he never lobbied members of Congress after he resigned as House speaker in 1998. But U.S. Rep. Jeff Flake and former congressman Butch Otter told The Des Moines Register this week that Gingrich helped persuade reluctant Republicans to vote for the Medicare prescription-drug program, which barely passed.

Flake and Otter, who have endorsed Mitt Romney for president, said about 30 Republican House members were holding out against the bill in the fall of 2003 because they feared the proposal would expand the federal deficit. Proponents brought in Gingrich, who addressed a private meeting of Republican House members, they recalled. ?He told us, ?If you can?t pass this bill, you don?t deserve to govern as Republicans,? ? said Flake, who represents an Arizona district. ??If that?s not lobbying, I don?t know what is.?

Otter, who is now governor of Idaho, agreed. ?I can?t define lobbying, but as a Supreme Court justice once said about pornography, I know it when I see it,? he said. ?I felt we were being lobbied.?

However, the head of a government ethics watchdog group and the Gingrich campaign both disputed those assertions on Tuesday.

Sheila Krumholz, executive director of the Center For Responsive Politics, said what Gingrich did probably was not technically lobbying.

?It?s such a nebulous term. What is lobbying? Unfortunately, I think he gets a pass,? said Krumholz, a national expert on money in politics and efforts to influence Congress.

The nonpartisan Washington, D.C.-based group is pushing for tighter reporting rules, so that anyone who lobbies elected officials would have to report his or her activities. Under current rules, Krumholz said, people don?t have to register as lobbyists unless they spend at least 20 percent of their time lobbying or helping others do so and unless they make more than one contact with elected officials and certain staff members.

If Gingrich didn?t speak on behalf of someone who was employing him, Krumholz said, he generally would not have to declare himself a lobbyist in order to speak to House members about a bill. ?But to the average person, of course he was lobbying,? she said.

Gingrich spokesman R.C. Hammond also denied that the former speaker?s actions amounted to lobbying. ?At no point was Newt Gingrich ever a lobbyist,? he said Tuesday. He said Gingrich was not paid for meeting with the House members.

?On multiple occasions, both in public and private venues, he often promoted good ideas, and this occasion is no different. Making an argument for a good idea and having a conversation about policy is certainly something any respectable member of Congress is capable of doing.? By ?member of Congress,? Hammond said he was referring to Flake and Otter.

Flake said there were other times when Gingrich gave more general talks to members of Congress, which Flake said should not be considered lobbying. However, in this case, he said, Gingrich urged members to vote a specific way on a specific bill, which is lobbying.

Flake and Otter said they were surprised to hear Gingrich claim recently that he never lobbied Congress. Gingrich has said he earned millions of dollars working as an adviser to various groups, including health care companies and the mortgage-industry giant Freddie Mac, without directly lobbying lawmakers.

The Medicare-expansion bill, which was supported by President George W. Bush, squeaked through the House in November 2003 on a vote of 220-215.

Flake said the former House speaker was brought to the 2003 meeting by Rep. Billy Tauzin, a Louisiana Republican who led the effort to pass the bill, then left Congress to become head of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America. Flake voted against the Medicare bill, which he said added huge unfinanced costs to the federal government. ?It was the biggest expansion of an entitlement program since Medicare was instituted,? Flake said. ?It was a terrible, terrible thing for Republicans to do.?

Otter said his impression was that Gingrich was lobbying that day on behalf of the Bush administration, but he?s not sure. He doesn?t remember exactly what Gingrich said. ?My posture in listening to this was he was full of crap, and I wasn?t going to buy it,? Otter said.

From a radio advertisement airing in Iowa: "Are you unhappy with the current GOP field? Let me tell you something, you are not alone. Join thousands of Iowans as we vote rogue. It's the caucus for Sarah Palin on January 3. Let Iowa and the entire country know we want real leadership and real reform in DC. So come on Iowa, vote rogue on January 3!"

An independent group are running ads in Iowa asking voters to write in Palin's name. They will air on KCAU-TV in the Sioux City, Iowa market. Some will also air as a commercial during the Broncos-Chiefs game on WHBF-TV in the market for the eastern border of Iowa

President Obama's rising approving ratings.

"I think it's explicable by two things. The first is the ridiculous way that the Republicans have conducted themselves in the Congress, particularly in the last couple weeks where they were given a victory early on and they kicked it away and achieved really nothing in terms of cutting spending or any of their real objectives, but suffered politically, making Obama look like at least a grown-up."

"And second, I think, is the year-long, almost year-long exposure now to a weak Republican field. The fact that Santorum is the last standing alternative. Think how this has gone. Trump, Bachmann, Perry, then Cain, then Newt, who is really in decline now. Ron Paul, who is on the accent, but he not electable, and now Santorum. Every single alternative is going to get a try or looks like it will get a try because the field is not happy with -- or the electorate in large part is not happy with Romney. He's stable, he's sober, but he's considered ideologically suspect," he said.

And I think with some of the embarrassing candidates like Cain, and others along the way, it made the president who is by, by who he is, presidential, look better. And I think that explains the reason his numbers are up. He's been a passive observer of this. And the Republicans in Congress and also in this race have not actually distinguished themselves.

Middle Class Warriors Dine Out for $260

December 29, 2011, 8:42 am

President Obama and Michelle had dinner last night at Honolulu?s famed foodie paradise, Alan Wong?s.

The middle class was not invited.

I realize the Obamas are wealthy people, and that wealthy people have the right to drop $260 of their disposable income on chow. But if you?re going to invite Associated Press photographers along to capture your trip to Target and stage photo ops at PetSmart and Best Buy, then I?m going to write about your unpublicized excursion to Alan Wong?s.

The press pool was not invited in to take photos this time. In fact, others were discouraged from doing so too. From the pool report:

Diners have been trying to takes pictures of POTUS, only to be chased off by advance staffers.

Since when are people not allowed to take pictures?

According to the pool report, the Obamas and their friends dined on the five-course ?tasting menu? that was tasty to the tune of $75 a person, $105 with wine. Among the highlights were ?Sassey Salad? and bacon wrapped pork loin.

I?m going to go out on a pretty firm limb here and say they had wine. That brings the bill for two to $210. Add in Hawaii?s 4 percent sales tax and we?re at $219.40. Let?s assume a 20 percent tip at the very least and the total comes to just over $260.
..........................................................................

honestly I never in my life remember how much a dinner by a President and his wife being reported.

This is all they got to attack Obama.

They are in deep chit my friends.

President Obama enjoyed a five-to-seven course tasting menu Wednesday night at a dinner in Honolulu with first lady Michelle Obama and 10 friends.

The dinner at Alan Wong's restaurant in Honolulu comes as the president enjoys his annual holiday break in Hawaii, a vacation nearly cut short by the fight over taxes with Republicans in Washington.

The Obama's are regulars at Wong's restaurant?both gave head chef Wong a hug upon entering before being taken to their ?traditional table,? which Wong describes as the ?feng shui? seat in the house, according to the pool reports.

The Obamas were part of a group of ten, which included the president?s sister, and the party ordered off a special tasting menu ? a multi-course meal designed specifically by the chef.

?The Obama party had a special 5-course tasting menu for $75 a person, $105 per person with wine pairings for each course," according to the pool report. "Highlights include "Sassey Salad" and bacon wrapped pork loin,? according to CNN?s Peter Morris, who the pool report said was at the restaurant when the president arrived.

Other diners generally didn't notice the president's arrival, the pool report said.

The Obamas spent about three hours at the restaurant before returning to their rental at around 11 p.m.

It was rumored immediately following their meal, President Obama addressed the group and said, "Isn't it fun spending Skulnik's tax money on another lavish Hawaiian vacation!"

You still don't get it, Ronnie.

The Grinch's claim that Palin's resume was stonger than Obama's wasn't true then and it's less true today.

Further proof that sound and fury over substance works with dullards such as yourself.

Chris Matthews fell into a frenzied defense of President Barack Obama after Mitt Romney said he wants an "entitlement society." Politico's Charles Mahtesian called Romney was using "dog-whistle politics" because Republicans "know what he is talking about" and "those are words that Republican caucus-goers understand."

"It really bugs me. Let me tell you why, Perry, this bothers me. Barack Obama, whatever you think of him, did not start at the top. He wasn't born a Romney. He wasn't born in the Ivy League crowd. He worked his way up to it. He came from a mixed background, a poor mother raised him to a large extent by his grandparents. He busted hump to get scholarship after scholarship. He worked his way to the head of the Harvard Law Review. And this guy Romney, who was handed everything, has the gall to say to this guy 'oh, he wants an entitlement.' What about your fricking entitlements? From the day you were born, buddy. It's unbelievable. it's unbelievable," Chris Matthews said on MSNBC.

Matthews likened Romney's "entitlement society" phraseology to using the term "welfare queen" in the 1980s. Matthews called Reagan's position on welfare "ethnic crap."

"You heard the same stuff from Reagan, by the way. Food stamps to buy booze with. I remember all that old stuff. its the old ethnic crap. Okay?" Matthews said.
