I found Norton slowed both my laptop and my desktop down to molasses (and my laptop is 64bit). Took em out and switched to McAfee and found things ran a lot faster.

I run both Spybot and Ad-Aware and am happy with both. Also run Microsoft Antispyware. That combination has kept my computers clean for a year now (touch wood).

Totally agree!!!! Norton takes about too much memory and costs too much. Mcafee or AVG is good for the virus scan. If you have a router or hub most have a built in firewall and nothing is better than a hardware firewall.

I use Spybot and Adware together too and everything is well.

Screw Norton. They've made a mess of my systems many times (2004 was the WORST!!!!, 2005 aint much better when you want to remove it)..

Good luck

Stay away from Porn, cheap entertainment sites and Email you don't open unless you know the source and you won't need anything. Alot of these companies attract viruses.
