Well it is not to good. There is one screw that holds the plate to my neck that is completely broken and one that has a crack. The one that is broken it shows the head of the screw sticking out away from the plate. That screw- they wont be able to get out from what my neurodoc says. They should be able to get the other three out even though one is cracked.

I had a small accident where a girl pulled out in front of me back in Nov. of last year and had no problems along with some neck xrays. Those xrays showed good fusion no hardware defects. I had some regular xrays taken way before the Mri,Ct-Scan etc., and he had those newer xrays next to the older ones back in Nov., and you can see the difference in hardware screws and the fusion is almost completely gone and failed. There was dark like cracks or spaces where there should be fused bone.

The reason why it is taking so long to get it fixed is he says it will be real tricky and even more complicated than the two before because of the hardware and partially fused bones. He has conferred with all his partners. He even presented my case at a cervical surgery conference so I got alot of good advice and second opinions. So he is suppose to get back to me next week to discuss the procedure with me more in depth and I will decide either to get it done here or he said he would refer me to Mayo's in Minn or Loyola in Chicago.

I just want to get it over with. I have been off work for about a month and am going crazy. When my neck doesn't give me problems with swelling or pain in my arms and hands with them falling asleep, I get on the compute and have been playing poker (Hold Em') with play chips. I ain't doing to bad either. Alot better than my MLB posted plays here at MJ's. LOL.

Thanks for asking sixfive. It felt pretty good to see your post today even after it has been awhile since the last post and we talk through a computer screen. If you are ever around the Chicago area or Illinois I would like to meet up and have some drinks. My wife really would like me to get out of the house.

Talk to you later and good luck...

sorry to hear u are still having so many problems. That's scary stuff, for sure! I'm glad your doctor is not the arrogant type that thinks he can fix anything. If so, he might have already cut and screwed u up. I like a doctor that has the internal fortitude to ask for help and one who remembers his oath.

Being off work sounds great, but really, as u have found out, it sucks, especially when u aren't even able to do the fun stuff. I've had to endure that too; no basketball, no golf, no softball, no volleyball, no running, etc with my stupid back. Technology is advancing every day though, and I'm praying for something that will help me too. I'm thankful that I can still work, and I can still pick up my kids, and I know there's many others out there who are worse off. Keep us informed!

Are you all better now? Thought of this today, and I'm still a bit intrigued by your case. How are you doing with this?

Thanks for asking.. The neck is finally starting to feel better. I had the surgery(the third one) on May 19th. I went with the chick doctor and she did a great job. She said it took alot longer than she thought it would. There was absolutley nothing left to the prior fusion, and she couldn't get the one screw that was completely broken out. She did get all of the other remaining three out. The doc had decided to use my own bone this time to fuse and all goes well so far, but damn that part of my hip hurts like a MFer still. I did have some swelling and had to go back to the ER and get a IV shot of steroids and a script of steroids a couple days after I got out of the hospital. No real pain in the arms or hands with some minor tingling in the hands once in awhile. I am about ready to get rid of the neck brace and bone stimulator next week.

Thats about it and good luck with any plays

djv & Dr Strangelove-

Thanks for the well wishes... Djv I had it done right here in the sprawling metropolis of Bloomington,Normal Ill by the woman doc that did my back. She did a great job...I am pretty bored but the general forum keeps me a little interested, however the softball thread that was lol is starting to get to be a soap opera. I hope newbies that see that thread is not the norm of the general forum.

Thanks guys
