I'll save you the time. I am a senior at USC, working on my BS in Finance and Economics. I am in the Marshall School of Business (ranked top 10 in nation). I was a volunteer manager with the USC football team all spring, and only work part time in the fall (because of school).

I do not read the LA times, i read the Daily News and Scott Wolfe writes the USC daily updates. Thank you very much!

Any other info you need? :D

As usual, i take nothing away from your posts. Again, why are you so threatened by me? I never post to you or call you out. Your one sorry fellow.

FIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!!

You laugh and claim you use the same data Sagarin ratings uses. How come Sagarin ratings has USC SOS #10 and LSU SOS #66???

You use the same data, right?

I do not agree with how you did your judgment on SOS. Sagarin ratings is not alone in ranking USC SOS a lot stronger than LSU.

Re-read my post above on why I would not give LSU the #2 ranking. Also, re-read daftplayer's post as well. He brought up excellent points as well.

USC is the better team, the polls will rank USC ahead of LSU. LSU has shown me they are a good/great team, but unfortunately they lost 1 game and with that schedule, you cannot lose 1 game. Last year USC had 2 losses and was ranked very high because USC played the #1 SOS.

I think Miami and Ohio St. have legitimate arguments on taking claim to being #2 team in the nation provided they win out. My only problem with Miami and Ohio St. is how they won this year. I am not that impressed by either team even though they managed to win games they were "outplayed" in. Does not mean i do not think they are bad team, i just do not "think" they are better than USC. FSU has a weak case because they lost badly to Miami and have not beaten a ranked team all year.

All in all, I think we need a playoff system. Last year USC would have won the NC if there was a playoff system. USC did not deserve to go to NC game last year, but i am just saying USC was the best team in the nation last year.

I would want an 4 team playoff system, and let the BCS select the 4 teams.

Ok maybe you need me to write in all caps. The #'s I used were from Jeff's rating. The average was calculated using the posted #'s of each team on his chart. What about that are you not understanding exactly?

I used actual #'s to make a legitimate case point by point in which USC did have some advantages so it was an unbiased breakdown to boot. You on the other hand are being a total homer about this & only use what #'s you want. You avoid any legitimate question I bring up to you. Why is that? Maybe because you don't have legitimate answers to offer back in return.

I actually thought USC was playing great ball at the end of the year but I won't say they were the best team last year as they didn't make it to the game. I hate Ohio State but I will respect that they did get there, won & finished undefeated. I hate to say this but the best team last year was OHIO STATE & #2 WAS MIAMI PERIOD!!!!

I hate to break this to you but realistically any non USC homer would say LSU probably is the better team. They played & beat more ranked teams. Their conference is stronger period! USC lost to an average Cal team with 5 LOSSES! LSU lost to a team with 3 losses that hung with the then #2 team in the land & they have beat some ranked teams including top 15 teams.

One last thing LSU's SOS WILL BE HIGHER then USC if they run out. They will even win a conference championship game which will have alot of weight as they will most likely beat a team ranked in the top 25 as well. USC's remaining schedule is an absolute JOKE while LSU has a legitimate schedule.

I love how you think I am threatened by you. Threatened by a 21 or 22 year old who wrote false claims about being a volunteer manager back in August. I know who Scott Wolfe is, you don't need to tell me, I have met all the LA sports writers at the Staples Centre on a few occasions. You say you never call me out but everyone on here saw you come in my thread earlier in the year and make fun of that fact that I picked a game wrong and that I lost money. Something nobody should do with anybody. Then you tried to retract your statement. If anyone is the sorry fellow........it is you. The fact that you had to lie about being a volunteer manager shows me you have a love in with the team and if you could you would blow anyone on the USC team the way you talk about the dynasty they are supposedly building yet you tell us USC will win 2 NC in the next 5 years which does not make a dynasty. So Scott if you can tell all of us one big lie what else do you have for us that is a lie:thefinger

I love it, I called you out and was so right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am done with your immature punk ass.

Mr Hockey

No you are wrong when you said any non USC homer fan would say LSU is better than USC. Look at the 2 polls. USC clearly is #2. So that statement is wrong. ESPN poll USC recieved 165 more points than LSU. AP poll, USC recieved 164 more points than LSU. Clearly, more voters think USC is better than LSU.

As for your calculations on SOS, i just do not agree with it. You said i am bias in choosing the polls that have USC SOS higher. Hello, all of them have USC SOS higher. Or at least most of them, so i am not alone on that. Will LSU SOS be higher than USC's at the end of the year? Nobody knows. We shall see but unfortunately more people including me, feel USC is the #2 team in the country.

bbk

For your information, most of the country wants a USC vs OU matchup. Pette Carroll has only lost once by double digits in his 3 years at USC. That was @ ND when USC blew a lead. OU beating USC by DD would be very impressive.

It is just an average calculation. You don't agree with it because it makes your argument look bad.

Please explain though how USC should be ranked #2 over LSU when they lost to a team with 5 losses already & a non ranked team to boot while LSU lost to a 3 loss Florida team that is ranked & has a stronger SOS then Cal?

The biased people want to see OU vs USC because of tradition & how they are tradition laced schools. Anyone could clearly look at the #'s as they don't lie when you look at the schedules. LSU will face more ranked teams before the year is over & have a shot at a conference title to boot. LSU has control of their own destiny here.

If you all only knew what half the coaches and sportswriters do when it comes to voting each week. I know many sportswriters who think it is a joke that have a vote and write for the AP. How else do you explain Michigan ranked ahead of Iowa after they lost to them yet have the same record? Same thing goes for FSU ranked ahead of Miami in the polls. Miami beat them and both have the same record. Did any of you see the jackass writer in NY who had TCU ranked ahead of Miami in the polls? The problem is these polls are used in the BCS formula so it does screw everything up.

Not sure how all this started. Seems there might be a few doubting USC and maybe one certain SC fan pushing some buttons here. He sure is under attack.

I normally only check this site for the invaluable info I can pull. However, in this case, being a left coaster, and having been left out in the rain so long, with no PAC 10 NC since implementation of BCS, nor title game appearance, I am compelled to give scott some support though maybe there's some history here between you all i haven't picked up on.

It's curious to me how mr Hockey can say any non-USC homer will tell you LSU is way better than USC. Hmm, interesting. My first thread stated how SC beat #6 Aub by 24 at Aub and LSU beat #21 Aub by 24 at LSU. Seems pretty even to me based on common opponent. They each have 1 loss. And then there's the polls. Most of us here have always felt with the time difference our teams sometimes get the short end of the stick by writers/pollsters. I mean come on....west games go off late and eastern writers aren't gonna see lots of late west coast games. But this time the polls have USC #2. So what is it? Regional biaz? Here
I'll state a couple examples of how in past i feel it affected polls. Try not to laugh.

I Remember a couple /3 or 4 years back when everybody was so upset that Miami missed out on the NC game to FSU even though if I recall correctly they'd beaten them. Well, best of my recollect, that Miami team had lost to a Washington Huskie team that ended with one loss too. Now if Wash beats Miami and Miami beats FSU...who goes? The way we in the PAC 10, yes the wonderful PAC 10 see it, UW should have gone. But the fact is they were never even considered or mentioned and all you heard was how a Miami team who beat FSU (and who lost to UW) had gotten shafted. As it turned out, FSU got smoked in the big game. I couldn't understand why UW was not even mentioned. Pls don't laugh or start smashing things.

#2......Oregon...Joey Harrington...did the PAC 10 suck that year? One loss. Nebraska...couldn't even win their own conf. Who goes to play Miami? Cornhuskers get smashed. I forget who the Ducks ripped in Fiesta but again....if you live here....you do start to at least wonder when we might get a turn in the big game. And Oregon might have gotten worked by the Canes too, but not any worse than a team that wasn't even conf champs.

So there's the Polls thing Mr Hockey. Writers from all over have the Trojans #2. They haven't alwasy treated UW and Oregon quite as well. Is LSU good? Uh...yeah. as are a whole slew of teams with 1 and 2 losses. But some lost early and some lost (uhoh) late.

So if Scott here is talkin a little too much smack then Scott chill out a bit. And BBK....well man you still have your facts wrong. Now you wanna say let's not talk about the past let's talk present and then you go right off and say how USC lost 2 times in THE PAST 2 years to Big 12, including losing to a 6-6 team, 27-20. And again man, that's absolutely FALSE. They lost to a K ST team that was in Final Top 10 and finished 11-2, not 6-6. So if you wanna beat on USC then get the facts straight.

In the end, there's no playoff. USC wasn't #2 last week. But somebody lost. And who knows what will happen rest of the way.
Maybe somebody else will lose or somebody jumps over someboyd else.

We shall see. But if USC ends up at #2, they are capable of providing more comp than you might imagine. They only have 1 loss too.

daft

you are probably scott under a new name; what a joke??
and if you really think a team that lost to a horrible and i mean horrible cal team has any chance of giving fsu; miami; lsu; or much less ou any competition you are kidding yourself;
miami lost to vtech; lsu to florida and fsu to miami; at least those teams lost to good teams; its just a shame usc will end up getting there because they are going to get throttled; and btw why dont daft and scott give me usc's record this year if they have to play at pitt; at vtech; at fsu; tenn at home; and florida at home; scott is stupid enough to say 5-0; most would say 1-4 at best

bbk...the reason we get all fired up abou this is precisely because it's not decided on the field and it is SO subjective.

fAct is USC beat Auburn in road opener when Aub was rank #6 and picked by some so-called pundits as high as #1. The 24 point beating delivered to Aub in their home opener kinda threw them for a couple games. That's the way it is in sports.

Granted, LSU took care of Aub in similar fashion.

When the Canes (my best friend lives and dies with em) played Fla, say what you want man but the fact is FLA absolutely was not a very good team at that time. I can hear you screaming in discension right now but fact is all the Gators were screaming for Zooks head. Alright...fair enough....the Fire zook started after the final gun of that game. They were not very good then. I admit they are playing lights out right now.

Tenn is way down this year and decimated by injury and so kinda weak last year too. It is what it is.

Pitt....gimme a break. Look who've they lost too. But looks like they may finish strong.

It's so subjective man. FSU has bounced back nicely this year but everybody in CAli knows RIX can't win in rain (he's a cali boy), and struggles against quality opponents.

Do you realize Va tech did not complete pass till late 3rd Qtr. USC would have stuffed their run game up the kazoo my friend. ASk Wash sT who had something like -29 rush yards for the game!!

Look, we see it differently. In about a month it will all shake out and then we'll see where it goes from there.

I will say if USC reaches the final game I'll definitely take them as the dog.

Of those 5 teams, FSU and FL have the best chance to upset USC. FSU plays very good defense but i do not like RIX at QB running their offense. FSU would lose to USC because of their offense. FL is talented but i do not think a rookie QB LEAK could lead FL to a victory over USC. Plus i do not think ZOOK is a great gameday coach.

If USC played these 5 teams in the next 5 weeks, and USC healed up from injuries, USC would go 5-0 and at very least 4-1. If USC played these 5 teams in SEPTEMBER, then USC prob. go
2-3 or 3-2 if the teams they played did not turn the ball over. USC is different team now than from the beginning of the year.

V-Tech does not impress me because they do not have an offense. Look what their offense has done against the 2 best defenses they faced all year? I am not impressed when V-Tech scores 50pts on bad teams. USC would do exactly what W.Virginia did against V-Tech. Tenn. is an average team at best.

FIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this has nothing to do with you guys argument but USC is starting to kick major ass in recruiting.

they now have the top back in the nation looking hard at them, adrian peterson. just picked up a 5* OT after the WSU blowout, to go along with Byers, the top center in the country. they also have a 5* juco safety coming on board.

chauncey, lendale, reggie, steve smith, whitney lewis, jd booty, a soph starting QB, mike williams...

i'd say they're 'back'

Leak a true freshman QB has led them to victories over highly ranked Georgia & LSU. He beat LSU on the road no less at one of the tougher places to play in the country. I think he could hold his own against an overrated defensive team in USC. When you look at the teams they have faced, any halfway decent defense could pad stats.
