thinks highly as i do of espn's "around the horn"

when you read sports illustrated, people, or any other publication that will review or critique a tv show from time to time- i know that espn's "pardon the interruption" gets consistently high marks and excellent reviews, while "around the horn" gets poor reviews.

im wondering why "ATH" gets such bad reviews? anyone else really like this show?

i think kellerman is a great host, and marriotti and woody paige crack me up. i think its a great show.

something tells me it probably wont be on the air much longer, but i think its a great show. the concept is simple , but i think the daily panel consists of very bright guys.

anyone agree? or am i the only one watching this show? lol

Around the Horn is alright, but what I think would help is if they didn't have more or less the same reporters from the same papers everyday. All of those guys are excellent reporters to say the least and this is by no means a knock on them, but I think the show would be much more interesting if they mixed it up, maybe switching the reporters every week or something of that nature.

Show doesn't hold a candle to PTI. Kellerman is a boxing analylist and nothing more. He even picked ruiz to knock jones out early. Sure he's decent for friday night fights, what an audience that must be! They change the format every time i turn it on which shows that they are doing something wrong He is way to NYC biased and so are all of the other reporters with respect to their city. LA, NYC, Dallas, Boston c'mon! except for Woody he's OK. Bottom line the show won't be around next year!

ATH

ATH

I have never seen Around the horn. ESPN promos it to death like everything else they do. When is it on?

I love PTI. I think it is great and Mr. Tony on the radio is also good.

My favorite of all time is The Sports Reporters. This is the BEST show on ESPN. Dick Shapp was a stud and it has waivered a bit since his passing. It remains the blue ribbon winner of any show of it's type. Every Sunday I fix my coffee, read the paper and watch the show. It's my favorite day of the week.

Really like PTI.

It really is groundbreaking in the sense that they took two entertaining sports guys, IMO, and also let them talk about TV shows, movies, etc. What's not to like about a fat schlubby black guy arguing with a nerdy Jewish guy?

ATH was bad at first. I've only caught it a couple times since they changed the format. I think it still has to get better to continue but I think that it might make it. That 5:00 spot has been death for ESPN forever, though, so it might continue if its getting any ratings at all. I do like Kellerman. I'm waiting for the day an intern walks onto the set and takes a squeegie to his eyeballs, though. It's like opening the curtain at Carnegie Hall every time he blinks.

In other programming news, don't forget to check out HBO's "12 Legendary Fights" debuting Wednesday with the tale of Leonard-Hearns. It's becoming very clear that HBO caters strongly to its fight fans. Sopranos and Oz may come and go but they know that those of us who have it for the fights would probably pay 'em $50 a month to keep the it coming.

Gman-

I know you can get Mariotti's column's at http://www.suntimes.com

I think the only decent one is PTI; Kornheiser and Wilbon seem to have a good chemistry, although when they argue, I think Wilbon is usually correct. I'm not a real fan of the Sports Reporters because guys like Lupica do not do their homework. Lupica has the nice cushy job, and I think he doesn't know what's going on outside of New York, unless its something that pertains to Jordan or Tiger Woods.

Agree with Valuist, the chemistry between the two make it work. To be honest I have not watched Around The Horn, because I work nights sometimes catch the PTI repeats and always enjoy it.

Kellerman is the type of guy who needs to get his ass kicked. I would not be surprised if the only reason he has that job is through a family connection. Most of the people here know way more about sports than this clown. Just my opinion...

On another note, I agree with Blazer that The Sports Reporters w/Dick Schapp was a classic show. My pick for best sports show would have to be Real Sports w/Bryant Gumbel. While I can't stand the host they put together the best stories ranging from all different sports and topics.
