Chiefs (+6) over Baltimore
0-3 KC team that is just in shambles. The defense couldn't hold a pop-warner rb to under 100 yards Balt's Rushing Offense -- 171.3 ypg (2nd in NFL). Playing at Baltimore, against one, if not the best defense in football. With all that going against KC

The Chiefs are 23rd in the NFL in total defense, and have allowed a league-high 86 points. Kansas City is giving up the fourth-most rushing yards at 150.3 a game, and now faces the Ravens' Jamal Lewis, who ran for 2,066 yards last season.

why play them...well it is do or die tonight. The chiefs have a bye week next and they have to lay it all out on the line tonight. With Todd Heap out tonight, the WR are not stellar and can be covered man to man. Over load the box and force Boller to beat you and IMO he can't.

The stats speak for themselves:
Ravens
Rushing Defense -- 95.7 ypg (10th)
Passing Defense -- 223.7 ypg (20th)
Total Defense -- 319.3 ypg (15th)
Rushing Offense -- 171.3 ypg (2nd)
Passing Offense -- 126.3 ypg (31st)
Total Offense -- 297.7 ypg (21st)

Baltimore is very aggressive and KC can take advantage of Play action. If you overload the box against them and stop J.Lewis (browns scheme) you have a good chance of beating this team. Use Gonzalez in the middle, the bad news for KC is they have limited talent at WR. They need Morton and Kennison to step up and KC's line has to play like they can. IMO KC has too much talent to go 0-4?

Nice write-up, Irish... I like the chiefs tonight as well. As good as Baltimore's D is, KC's O is almost as potentially dominant. I just think they are too good to get shut down completely, and I just don't trust Boller to throw too many points up there himself. Injuries to Heap and Flynn weigh heavily too.

Throw in to the mix how desperate KC is, and Priest returns to Baltimore on a mission after the Ravens gave up on him.....and I'll gladly take the 6 points.

That was a good write up and you might be on to something. I watched Cleveland use Winslow to somewhat tie up Ray Lewis by constantly putting him in routes. That freed up Clevelands' mediocre WR's to make a few big plays, and the Browns had some success running the ball. KC has Gonzo to do the same thing, and if they can keep Lewis busy, KC can run the ball.

Boller is just awful but the one thing that Jamal Lewis does is expose poor tacking. If they don't tackle him, he will run forever.

Still deciding, but good writeup none the less...

Hey Irish note that the Chiefs are ranked 29th against the run heading into Week 4 and 30th against the run in 2003. Theyl need to step it up tonight. The Ravens combination of a fierce defense and bruising ground game can tear teams apart.

On a good note for you KC?s defense has played three teams that have a relatively balanced offense Denver, Carolina and Houston.

Tonight maybe they will be able to disregard the pass and stack the line of scrimmage to stop Lewis and company. "Maybe not" hee hee :thefinger *JK

Good luck tonight to you as well! ;)

Hope to see Hall covered by Sanders in some sets. IMO 37 year old Deion would have a tough time covering a go route. That's if the safeties are in a blitz formation so they can't help. Tonight chiefs defense stops the run.....

Maybe I'll get lucky and Jamal will be thinking about how to decorate his cell and not where the running lanes are????
