IOWA STATE +5 Double Play L

For what it's worth, a Double Play simply means I bet these games for twice the amount as my regular plays. Some people say you should bet all of your games for the same amount and that might be some valid advise, but I think once in a while it's worth a shot to make a larger wager....I guess it's good if it wins and bad if it loses, to state the obvious. With that said....Saturday I will be making my first Triple Play or even a Quad Play on a game that goes off at 3:30 EST. I hate to sound like a freakin' tout, but this is a game I really like. In the next day and a half, I'm going to try and find reasons NOT to bet so much money on this game, but I'm certain it will AT THE VERY LEAST be a Double Play.

I completely agree on the money management. It is even more exaggerated for me in soccer, but when you really love a game you should unload, as long as you don't do it that often. I have done this in soccer for many, many years and it has served me well. I also do it in football, but not as pronounced. In my opinion this is the only way to win real money. You also have to ride the hot streaks, same as blackjack. I always increase my bets when I am on a roll, then bring them back and start over when the streak ends. Sports betting is the same for me.

I read something 35 years ago that has been very useful for me over the years. Gambling is all about streaks...you want to look for winning streaks and you want to avoid losing streaks. But what is considered a streak? Basically, 3 in a row is considered a streak. You either bet with the streak or you don't bet....you never bet against the streak. Why is this important? Who really knows what the next outcome will be, whether it's craps, roulette or flipping a freakin' coin? Like flipping a coin...some would say bet against the streak because it's due....heads has come up 3 in a row, I'm gonna bet tails because tails is due. But actually it's still 50%-50% that either heads or tails will show. Heads has come up 10 times in a row, it's still 50/50 on the 11th flip. But betting on a streak does two things for you.....it will get you on long winning streaks and keep you off of long losing streaks!
Black has come up 5 times in a row on the roulette wheel. You either stay with black or don't bet. This strategy will put you on some long winning streaks and keep you off of long losing streaks! I was playing Baccarat in Vegas about 30 years ago betting on Player....Banker came up 3 times in a row, so I switched to the Bank side. The next 13 hands were Bank...that's 16 in a row!! Everybody at the table was betting Bank. The shoe came to me and wouldn't you know it....another Player hand and a loser for everyone. I passed the shoe to the guy next to me and 12 more Banks in a row!!! That's 28 out of 30!!
Now that's a freakin' streak!! I do the same thing on the Craps table, if Don't Pass hits three in a row,
I'm on Don't Pass! Does this always work? Hell no! But this stategy will get you on long winning streaks and keep you off of long losing streaks!

OWENS.....I'm not sure about the blowout winner, but thank you for the kind words. I might as well mention the game I'm thinking about, besides it shouldn't be a big secret and I don't mean it to be. Maybe if I bring it up, someone will make a case for the other side that makes sense to me. But as of right now,
I can't find a reason NOT to unload on this game. Besides the line has moved in my favor the last time I looked.

The game I'm looking at is INDIANA +18. Now I might be wrong, but I just think this is far too many points to give a very, very good Indiana team. Penn St coming off that hard fought game at Iowa.
P State beat Pitt at home a couple of weeks ago, but didn't cover the spread and Pitt is bad! Indiana "smoked" a decent Virginia team two weeks ago on the road. To the best of my recollection, Indiana has a history of playing good games against the top teams in the Big Ten the last couple of years.
I would take Indiana if the line was 10! When I saw 17 - 17 1/2 I nearly shit my pants!

It makes sense. And it may be more true in baseball than any other sport. I think I've already made up my mind that I'm not going to bet on a (mlb) team unless they have won at least their last game. I'm going to miss a lot of winners, but I'm not going to be betting on teams in a losing streak.

I used to play a lot of craps in Atlantic City, many years ago. I was a don't player so I was not very popular. I was playing a packed table hiding in the far corner playing the don't with a bunch of young drunks. The don't got on a heater and hit 13 times in a row. Needless to say I made a lot of money. I cashed in and left via the boardwalk. About 2 blocks from the hotel, I was walking on the beach and I got jumped by the guys at the table. Beat the crap out of me and took my winnings. I licked my wounds, a cop actually found me as I was bleeding all over the place and I tell him the story. He wants to see where we were playing, so I go with him and when we get to the table guess who is there. Yup, the same idiots who beat me up. Swear to God, have to be the biggest idiots on earth. The cop was totally cool and asked me if I wanted to press charges or accept an apology and my money. I said I just want my money back and the cop said okay and then told them they had to throw in an extra $1,000 on top of my money or they would all get arrested. The best part of the story is they already had lost about $2k of the money they took from me so they all had to start taking money out on their cc's to pay me back. Was a crazy night and a true story.

Check out the soccer plays. Lots of winners in that thread. I was on a serious streak a couple weeks ago, but have cooled down some, but in general, I do rather well.

Iowa State's offense looked terrible last night. They score 40 vs Iowa, but can't score 14 vs Texas at home. And that was not the same shitty Texas defense that surrendered nearly 500 yards to Maryland at home a couple of weeks ago. On to tonight....

Iowa St was a tough loss. You just can't throw 3 interceptions and expect to win too many games. Each INT was a badly thrown ball too. I'm still not sold on Texas. This is the same defense that gave up almost 500 yards to powerful Maryland...at home! They played well vs a very over-rated USC, but lets see how well they do vs Oklahoma in two weeks.


Friday 9/29

I like 3 home dogs tonight, but I'm not sure they can hang for the entire game. At the risk of trying to outsmart myself.... I'm making 3 small 1st half wagers and taking my chances. I rarely do this and I hope I don't regret it.

1st Half DUKE +3 1/2L
1st Half ILL +3 L Ill. stinks! I should have known better.
1st Half WASH ST +3 W

If all 3 teams cover the spread for the game, but not for the 1st half.....you'll never hear from me again!
