Last week in the wild card round, all 4 home teams won by double digits and covered the spread. A closer look also shows that all 4 winning teams had a rushing yard edge and 3 of the 4 winning teams won the turnover battle (Seattle and Detroit didn't have any turnovers). So logically thinking, the team that can run the ball better and avoid the turnovers should win and cover the games. The trouble is....in my opinion, it's tough to predict turnovers, but a little easier to handicap who has the rushing advantage.

SEATTLE +5 Double Play L

Some say this isn't the same Seahawk team from past years, that may be true but also remains to be seen. If last week is any indication, I would say Seattle is right where they need to be. Did you know that Seattle didn't allow Detroit to run one play in the redzone? They also ran the ball for 177 yards. Again, some will dismiss that as....they were playing a banged up, not very good Lions team. That may also be true, but it's still very impressive!

It's hard to go against Matt Ryan after the year he's had, but I'm counting on Seattle's defense to do enough to keep them in the game. My key to this game is Russell Wilson. If he "pisses down his leg" Seattle has no chance. If he plays a decent game, this game will be tight and if he plays a great game Seattle will win. I think Wilson will play good enough that this game will at the very least be tight, with Seattle having a legitimate chance to win. I'm taking the generous points. SEATTLE +5 Double Play.

NEW ENGLAND -15 Double Play W

Frankly, I will be shocked if this game is even close! The QB difference is alarming! Brady and that offense is simply amazing. Since his return (after missing the first 4 games), the Pats are averaging 30 points per game. Brady has thrown 28 TD's vs only 2 INT's!! That is astounding! As for Houston's QB and offense, I just don't see them having much success in this game. NE shut them out 27-0 earlier in the year....and that was w/o Brady! Since losing at Seattle in early November, the Patriot's have won 7 straight games, covering 6 of 7 (only loss by 2 points) and in those 7 games they are only giving up an average of 12 points per game. New England just doesn't turn the ball over either, as they are +12 in turnover margin (Houston is -4). The coaching edge is also a mismatch in favor of New England. Some would argue that Houston has the number 1 defense in the NFL and 15 points is a gang of points to be giving in an NFL game....two very valid points! But in my opinion, New England's defense is just as good and although I would never lay 15 points in a regular season NFL game, this is the playoffs and I see New England winning this game rather easily. I'm taking NEW ENGLAND -15.

Good luck!!

FWIW

3 of the 4 winning teams also had more passing yards too.

Miami had more than Pitt

but they were down 20-3 before the beer vendors got their first tray sold

all four winning teams had more yards per pass attempt than their losing counterpart.

all 8 teams must have a mindset of 24 points at the very least..

and quite possible the 24 points will not advance ya to the Conference Championship Game..

Good Luck..ChasDee

GREEN BAY +6 Double Play W

Personally, I won't bet against Tom Brady, Big Ben or Aaron Rodgers. I should have added Matt Ryan to that list yesterday, although I thought Russell Wilson would have had a better game. Obviously, QB play is huge in these games. Mid-season, Green Bay lost 4 games in a row and even worse, they looked terrible doing it. Since then, they've won 7 straight games. In those 7 games, Aaron Rodgers has thrown 19 TD's and 0 INT's!!! In their last 5 games, they've scored 38 on Seattle, 30 at Chicago, 38 on Minny, 31 at Detroit and 38 on NYG last week. I love Dallas, and obviously the Cowboys have a lot going for them, but I won't go against Aaron Rodgers, especially getting 6 points in a game that I think will be very competitive. I'm taking GREEN BAY +6.

GREEN BAY over 52 Double Play W

I just don't see GB stopping the Cowboys on their home field either. At the very least, I think both teams will score in the high 20's.

thinking the same thing. Pitt needs to get TDs and KC needs more sense of urgency - good luck!

Two great games today with both dogs winning outright!!
The Championship games will have the 4 best QB's playing.
I don't think that's a coincidence.

Now 7-2 in the playoffs!!

NFL PLAYOFFS
7-2

Championship Sunday

You can carve these games up anyway you want to and have a legitimate argument on whoever you are taking. Two things stand out to me. #1 All 4 squads have outstanding QB's....I think that's quite obvious and is not a coincidence. #2 All four teams have a very positive turnover margin....GB +10, ATL +13, PITTS +7, NE +12, again I don't think that's a coincidence and is a major reason why all four teams are playing for a chance to go to the Super Bowl. It stands to reason (at least in my mind) that which ever QB has greater success, coupled with which ever team wins the turnovers, should win the game. With that in mind.....

GREEN BAY +6L
OVER 60 W

This one is very easy for me. I am not betting against Aaron Rodgers getting 6 points! He has been playing ridiculously insane......24 TD's and 1 INT in his last nine games. GREEN BAY has won their last 8 games (7-1 against the spread). In their last 6 games they have scored 38 vs Seattle, 30 vs Chicago, 38 vs Minny, 31 vs Detroit, 38 vs NYG and 34 vs Dallas. I think they can get at least 30 vs Atlanta. I'm taking GB +6 and over 60.

NEW ENGLAND -6W

Again, this one is easy for me and a no-brainer...... Tom Brady playing at home in the playoffs!

Good luck to all!

Now at 11-3 for the NFL Playoffs this year. Two of my losses were to Atlanta. I think I've learned my lesson and won't be betting against Atlanta again! Oh....I won't be betting against Tom Brady and Bill Belichick either! Maybe the over?

Should be a very good Super Bowl.
