Anyone ever build one?

I know they're in theory pretty easy to put together, wasn't sure if anyone took the time to do it. With all the free fridges on Craigslist, figured I might take a crack at it.

Also had a friend of a friend buy one, said he ended up replacing all the fittings within the year...so figure why build it right the first time, and not have to worry about replacing something that's a year old, and you paid good money for.

Thoughts?

wtf?

is this serious? no keg parties in NY?

In '03 they initiated a law that kegs sold had to tagged and had to have a $75 deposit.

If the keg wasn't returned in 30 days without the tag you forfieted the deposit and had a fine of $450.

It was to stop underage drinking?????? Didn't do anything about the 30 pks flying off the shelves.

They changed the time to 90 days but just a pain in the ass.

That's a damn shame.

I'm really going to try to put one together for the "corny" kegs.

We have a great microbrewery around here and they have the best beer I've ever tasted. To have it on tap would be excellent.

When you put it together, what would you rate difficulty level?

Pretty basic. You need a tank, lines, regulater and tap.

Drill a hole in fridge door and hook up. I kept my tank in the fridge because someone told me the gas would last longer. I don't know if that was true or not.

Different kegs have different hookups so take that into consideration. Your micro beer keg tap won't hook up to Bud for your weekend party.

I put one together about 10 years ago. Pretty easy. I used 1/4 barrels so I could keep two in the fridge at all times and wouldn't have to worry about running out. Loved having frosted mugs in the freezer.

That's important. Always have a backup on hand. Nothing worse than going to tap a beer, the keg goes dry, and you have no backup. :sadwave:
