On the course!
How would you like to have a winning $2 trifecta ticket on Saturday's Kentucky Derby and wind up losing $13,240.

It happened to a bettor at West Ridge OTB.
According to witnesses, the man entered the parlor around noon and asked how much it would cost to buy every possible trifecta combination (a bettor must pick the first three finishers in exact order) in the 20-horse field. After being told it would cost $13,680, he left ? presumably to visit his bank.

He returned shortly thereafter, purchased his tickets and left.

Here were the $2 trifecta payoffs for the past six Kentucky Derbies before Saturday:

2006 ? $11,418.40.

2005 ? $133,134.80.

2004 ? $987.60.

2003 ? $664.00.

2002 ? $18,378.20.

2001 ? $12,238.40.

This years Tri paid four hundred and change!

Nice job, dumb ass!

was prob all on one ticket.

$2 triple box 1-20

i was just kidding i forgot to put the little guy with the glasses up. Maybe the lottery should do this to. Not a big lottery player but man some of those people stand there for twenty minutes playing all those numbers. You can see the frustration in the faces of the people in line. Kinda like going to a WaWa or 7 eleven and you have the one guy who does all his grocery (eight thousand shitty items half with no sticker on them)shopping there when you just want to get to work with your coffee.

I'm sure that was his thought, as well.

Jack......Maybe next year, we should have a "Derby Party", and fifteen of us can pool $900 each and do that?

Shit, a $900 sting wouldn't be so bad, and the potential.........???????

Preakness will only cost you about $2600 to cover the trifectas, assuming they get about 12 horses running. Wonder what the last 10 Preakness trifectas paid.

I checked as many as I could find, and with the exception of a $145,000 hit, they have been shit.

That's why you need that 20 horse field.

(The $1 bet would get us down to $450 a guy, Jack!)

Driving home from the derby on Sunday, my friend says he thinks he has a winning Tri ticket he bought for some one who gave him $24 for a 4 horse box.

We both remembered the Super paying $29,000, but didn't know what the Tri paid. We pulled over to get a paper. What a shock to see $440 Tri and a $29,046 Super.

The 5 in 4th was not the longest shot on the board either he was 28/1, but I think there were a couple 50/1's.

The better payout will be the race with the most horses. The KY derby usually has 20 and thats where you get the huge payoffs if a longshot comes in. Where as the Preakness and Belmont have 8-10 starters and if a longshot comes in usually it doesnt pay out as well as the KY derby.

Thought I'd bring this back up.............

20 horse field this year.

A $1 tri-box of "All" would set you back $6,840! :scared

If you really wanted to take a shot, and try the superfecta?...................$116,280 to box the field!

-------------------------------------------------------------

12 of us could have put $570 of our "Economic Stimulus Check" in a pool this year, and taken our shot at the trifecta!!!!!!!!

Tomorrow will tell!
