Since I am not playing the Tenn / Georgia game as I consider it a toss up and too close to call, I really like this game with South Carolina on the road to Kentucky.

Playing for 500 bucks and have to eat some moneyline chalk to do it.

Its in the bag.

Remember that South Carolina has traditionally struggled in Lexington.

They should win this game, but I wouldn't call it a lock by any means. Woodson is a very capable QB and they showed a little promise against Florida.

CSTV U-WIRE) LEXINGTON, Ky.

In 12 games at Florida and one at South Carolina, Spurrier has beaten the Cats. 13-up, 13-down.

While lording over the Cats, Spurrier has also ruled the SEC, winning six conference championships.

In those 13 wins, the Cats were rarely competitive. The only close game was a 24-20 last-second loss in 1993.

During his career, Spurrier has changed the way football was -- and still is -- played in the SEC. He shifted the conference from a smash-mouth running league, to an air-it-out passing league.

Chances are, he'll stick to that plan this weekend after Central Michigan threw for 411 yards against the Cats.

"He knows how to relate to his offensive players," Woodyard said. "They respect him, and they want to go out and make plays."

Two even teams and one team with a legend as coach. hmmmmm......

Can this be enough to pull this game out. ?

I like the way Spurrier gets his teams prepared for road games , as well as at home. Never seems to be a letdown with his teams preparation.

Yes, he's aware that the Wildcats surrendered 558 yards (411 of those through the air) to Central Michigan. And not only is Kentucky's 461.6 yards allowed per game last in the Southeastern Conference, it's more than 100 yards behind the 11th-place defense, Arkansas.

Spurrier is known for finding weak spots in a defense and exploiting them over and over again, which could be a scary thought for the Wildcats' defense on Saturday night.

Things started to come together once Spurrier put senior Syvelle Newton at quarterback. Newton, a former receiver, was always dangerous in the open field. But he's also been an efficient passer, going 47-for-74 for 706 yards with eight touchdowns and two interceptions. He nearly orchestrated a fourth-quarter comeback against No. 2 Auburn and has turned former starter Blake Mitchell into a spectator.

"He's amazed us with his passing ability," Spurrier said. "We knew he could run, but he's been an excellent passer too. He's definitely our quarterback."

Kentucky has struggled with mobile quarterbacks this season. Mississippi's Brent Schaeffer picked up 61 yards on the ground and LeFevour scrambled for 47.

Newton isn't Archer's only concern. South Carolina boasts one of the conference's top receiver combos in Sidney Rice (25 catches, 404 yards) and Kenny McKinley, who had a breakout eight-catch, 111-yard, one-touchdown performance against Auburn..

The struggles were when old ball coach was somewhere else.

Did you say the lock word in my thread ?

Not to worry , its in the bag.

Give a great deal of credit to the South Carolina defense for holding a tremendously balanced Auburn offense in check. The Tigers finished with an average of 3.6 yards per rushing attempt, a credit to the toughness of the Gamecocks. Opponents are scoring just 13.6 ppg and 291.0 total ypg against South Carolina, which clearly possesses one of the most underrated defensive units in the nation. The pass defense has been particularly impressive, limiting foes to a 44 percent completion rating with three touchdowns against six interceptions. The Gamecocks have posted 12 sacks, and Eric Norwood leads his team with 2.5 sacks. Jasper Brinkley is tops for South Carolina with 37 total tackles, and Marvin Sapp has made 29 stops.

By the time the final gun had sounded, the Wildcats had surrendered 27 first downs and 558 total yards, including 411 passing yards. Clearly, Rich Brooks and his staff have some major problems to fix. Heading into last weekend's clash, Kentucky was giving up averages of 26.5 ppg and 437.5 total ypg. :142smilie :sadwave:

Sure, Kentucky has the advantage of playing at home, but South Carolina is the better team and should be able to win this matchup. Expect another strong performance from Newton, who can hurt a defense with his arm and his legs.

It seems simple enough.

FWIW (proabably very close to what you paid for it), I think Kentucky wins this game straight up.
