anyone think that -- as unlikely as it might be that the yanks drop to 0-2 -- that this could still be a dangerous game for new york because of the dome?

the reason i ask is because brown is a ground ball pitcher who throws a lot of heavy sinkers that induce grounders. problem is, a lot of playable balls on grass scoot through to the outfield for base hits in a dome.

i remember making a lot of good money going against charles nagy (a sinker baller) when he would pitch in toronto or minnesota because of the dome turf. and this is the first time since 1995 that brown is going to have to deal with domes.

i cant retrieve career dome numbers- but the few times he has pitched in domes the L3 years (interleague im assuming), his ERA is 4.31 (much higher than his normal ERA)

having said that, tampa hasnt seen this guy before and he is a difficult pitcher to pick up with his quirky delivery. so maybe tampa is clueless for 9 innings and it wont matter

anyone have a perspective or opinion?

BROWN BEEN A SLOW SLOWER THE FEW YEARS , LOOKING FOR BROWN TO MAKE A STAEMENT AS A YANKEES. WITH A % PLAY! THE YANK SHOULD BOUNCE BACK!
HAVE TO GO WITH THE YANKEES HERE
WOULD LAY 1.5 RUNS , BUT WOULD NOT GO CRAZY THROUGH , ALONG WAY TO GO
YANK WILL AND SHOULD WIN

gman......I agree with your point that ground ball pitchers are not great plays in a dome.

Bottom line.....and anyone that disagrees with me needs their head examined.

If you bet a favorite of -240 in a neutral field in their 2nd game of the season, you need your head examined.

I have seen crazier things.......who is to say that the Devil Rays wont be a .500 club this year?? No one knows......

These guys are professionals and anything can happen when you play 162 a year. At odds of -240, the Yanks would have to win like 115 games out of 162 in this situation to give a profit......one a neutral field, aint gonna happen.

gman....I am sure that you are aware of all of this....but I just got on a roll here, lol

Just cant stand to see people eating huge chalk in bases.......

Not sure if I can play the Rays here, as I hit last night with them, and should be content with a nice profit. Guaranteed that tons of people will be on the Yankees tomorrow for the SOLE reason that they lost the night before. Terrible reason.

OK then ground ball pitcher in a dome.

Maybe the balls don't get through for hits but are easy outs.

Jet lag begins to take its toll now. Players on both teams
just want to get it over with and go home.

They are tired of paying $ 98.00 for breakfast not including coffee and crumpets.

How about the under 9.5 ?

I went with the over this morning and it worked out ok.

Gotta agree with the Big Tease...makes me sick to think of people laying this kind of chalk so early in the season!!! Hell, anytime in the season's a tough time to do it...more often than not, in my experience, you choke on it.

That said, this line is based on last year's teams, and I have faith that Gonzalez can keep this one under control long enough for the DRays to put up a few runs...they're fast and play the basepaths tough. And, that outfield will run down any ball still inside the park.

Took Tampa last night, and will take em again tonight--today--confident in the fact I've pulled a profit from the series regardless...
