Just saw where Scott McClellans mom defected from the Republican party and will run against the sitting Republican governor in Texas as an independent. She went on quite a rant against her opponent(Rick Parry?) about education, health care and especially about border control. Said his only goal was that he wanted to say that he was Governor, while she will actually get something done.

Sun Tzu, Freeze, Judge, any Texas guys or anybody who knows anything about Texas politics. What do you think about all this?

She could be right about education issue. Texas seems to be last or bottom 3 in country. A real good independent party would be great at getting rid of some of the corruption at both state and fed level.
As for his Mom maybe she knows a lot we don't.

Don't know much about Texas politics Matt-but agree it is funny.
Wonder if anyone has or will ask him who he's backing in race.

McClellan said it came up and Bush will be backing the incumbent.

Dawgs is correct. Now why the strange guy Keekie what ever his name is running for governor of Texas. He keeps saying there school system is a wreck and there always in bottom 3. I don't know if thats drop outs or what he's talking about. He's right about one thing there never in top 10.

McClellan's mom was, still is, and still claims to be a Republican. Has some idiot reason she claims to be running as an Independent. Truth is all polls showed she was too far behind Rick Perry to come close to him in the Republican primary, so she is running as an Indpendent, hoping the Democratic nominee (several are running), Republican Perry, and Independent Kinky Friedman will somehow split the vote sufficiently for her to slip in. She is pretty well thought of in conservative circles in Texas, but can't come close to Governor Goodhair (Rick Perry). Sadly, Perry is the least qualified of any of the candidates from any party to be governor of anything. He is an arrogant fool.
To the extent Texas has made progress in any area -- education or any other -- it has been despite our governor, not because of him. He is pretty, and he is an evangelical, and that is qualification enough in the State of Texas to get yourself elected to the highest of public offices. Fortunately, the governor of Texas has no real authority other than to call special sessions of the legislature and veto legislation.
He does, however, have the power of appointment, and that is what makes Perry most dangerous.
Anything else you want to know about Texas politics?
