He coached a good game, but not even in the top 5 of best game coaches on my list. Not even the best in that conference.

i agree knight is agood coach..but the zags couldnt shoot anything outside the paint nor hit a free throw...Also though their "agressive" defense was really only a lot of hand slapping at the ball...but they won

Best 'game' coach in the country? This is his first Sweet 16 in ten years. I would think the 'best' game coach in the country could do better than that.

You Big 12 guys are funny. . . lol. . . Knight is a good coach but far from greatness. The real story was the Zags free throw shooting woes. . .not Texas Tech's coaching.

hmm Nicket - I tell you what - if your school had Knight with your talent ou would have more than 1 title. You arent going to try and claim Lute is a great bench coach are you?

Bottom line is he has 3 rings and he has a team with next to zero talent in the sweet 16.

What has Knight done recently?

At least Lute has been consistent. . . 21 straight trips to the Big Dance. More Pac-10 wins than Wooden (not saying he's better but still).

Let's see Texas Tech take down three #1 seeds like Arizona did in 97 (Kansas, North Carolina, then Kentucky) then we can talk Sun.

Arizona Head Coach Lute Olson . . . is in his 22nd season at Arizona and his 32nd overall as a college head coach with a career record of 738-255 (.743) and 546-163 (.770) at Arizona ... He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Sept. 27, 2002 ... Olson became the 16th coach in basketball history to tally 1,000 career victories (covering all levels) on Dec. 11, 2004 ... Olson recorded his 700th collegiate victory on Jan. 3, 2004, and became Arizona?s career victories leader (510) on Jan. 17, 2004 ... He has the most Pac-10 wins (305) of any coach in league history ... Olson has the second-best conference winning percentage (.778/305-87) and second-most league championships won (11) in Pac-10 history (minimum three years), trailing only UCLA?s John Wooden (.810/304-74/16 titles) ... During his 22-year tenure at Arizona, the Wildcats have won one national championship (1997), played in the national championship game (2001), participated in four Final Fours (1988, 1994, 1997, 2001), won 11 Pac-10 Conference titles, four Pac-10 Tournament crowns (1988, ?89, ?90, 2002) and been to the NCAA Tournament for 21 consecutive seasons, which is the longest active and second-longest streak in NCAA history (North Carolina, 27)... He also led Iowa to the 1980 Final Four ... Olson has been named the Pac-10 Coach of the Year seven times (1986, ?88, ?89, ?93, ?94, ?98, 2003), the Big Ten Coach of the Year twice (1979 & ?81) and directed the UA program to the nation?s best winning percentage over the past 17 years (449-111/.802) ... In his collegiate career, Olson has produced 47 NBA Draft picks, including 28 at Arizona ? 21 alone since 1990 ... He?s led UA to 18 consecutive 20-win seasons and has 27 overall in his career, making him one of only four head coaches in NCAA history to record 27 or more 20-win seasons... Under Olson, the Cats are 322-33 (.907) in McKale Center and have won 250 of its last 267 home games ... He is assisted by Jim Rosborough, Rodney Tention and Josh Pastner ... Olson is 1-0 against Utah State.

3 rings I think is better than 1, no matter how you do it. Bobby doesnt have any 2 v 15 losses either. Is he better today, much less ever, because what he did one year now nearly a decade ago?

I give Lute credit. He has built a great program, no doubt about it. Was just an obesrvation. Pac 10 wins is nice but a tad bogus, considering there are now 4 more games every year and a tournament.

And, like I said - Knight has gone to the tournament 3 of the last 4 years, as the number 3 school in the state, with almost no talent at a school where you cant get recruits to play hoops no matter who is coaching. That's what he has done "lately."

Consistency impresses me more than anything. . . Lute Olson is the 2nd best coach in the country right behind Coach K at Duke (as much as I hate to admit that).

Although I am surprised that Arizona is the team with the longest string of NCAA tournament bids at 21 straight. . .

that final still makes me sick. no foul call on battier(would have been the 5th) as he goes over woods back late in the game. do not forget that arenas was hurt on a dunk in the game prior to the duke game. he strained a pec muscle and his shot was off bad. jmo
