Pistons singled covered Shaq and focused entire defense on Kobe. Kobe had 6.9 player Prince with super long arms guarding him. No way anybody gets outside shot over him without altering it. Kobe easily can drive past Prince but then Pistons would slide 1 or even 2 defenders right at Kobe. So now Kobe has 2-3 guys surrounding him depending how deep he is in the paint. Laker role players had open shots all series long and would not make them. No excuses. Let me say that again. Pistons defense focused on Kobe, NOT Shaq. That is why Brown is such a great coach.
Lakers cannot get ball to Shaq all the time because he is lazy. Despite only having 1 man guarding him, Shaq would not move around to get open or let pass in. Wallace stands in front of Shaq and Shaq would stand right behind him. Gonna be pretty difficult throwing lob pass over freak Ben Wallace and Rasheed Wallace nearby.
Kobe has to shoot otherwise Lakers lose. Kobe's shots did not go in. You can only watch your role players miss so many open shots before you stop going to them. Tip your hat off to Pistons and thier defensive strategy. Brilliant move by Brown.
Let me say that again. PISTONS defended Shaq with 1 man with no help. Pistons covered Shaq with an undersized player all series long. Pistons defense was geared to stop Kobe not Shaq.
Oh yeah, how about Pistons getting away with fouls on Kobe all series long (except maybe tonight). Don't blame Pistons for doing it, as I would too if I could get away with it. Kobe was getting held all series long. Prince only 4 fouls in 4 games guarding Kobe?
Is this legal????
I thought PRINCE should have won MVP of the Finals if he is able to guard Kobe and possibly never send him to the free throw line in a 2 game stretch in Detroit.
Prince's numbers are better than Artest and Bruce Bowen and Pippen could have ever ever ever achieved... Seems like a very interesting story to me... But I am sure that Prince is superior to all of the players I mentioned above.
Kobe's free throws throughout the playoffs:
1st Round (5 games):
40-44
Semifinals (6 games):
30-41
Conference Finals (6 games):
42-56
Finals (4 games so far):
13-14
--------------------------------------------
Kobe has taken 92 shots in this FOUR GAME series and only 14 free throws
--------------------------------------------
Chauncey Billups has taken 52 shots in this FOUR GAME series and 34 free throws
--------------------------------------------
Kobe's stats for the 2 regular season games against Detroit 25 shots and 15 free throws.
--------------------------------------------
In the last 3 games Tayshaun Prince has played 132 minutes guarding Kobe and only has 4 total fouls (and I have watched him cry about every single one of them to the referees)
---------------------------------------------
Looking at those above stats can you tell me if anything would be different?
Sorry but you made a stupid comment and I had to settle it straight and bury your post. No hard feelings.
